The year 2147. Ten years ago... it felt so long ago. I mean, it kind of was. From history books I've read in my studies, our society was renewed into perfection and obedience many, many years before I existed. We all loved that idea. Or we were lead to believe to, at least. In the year 2022, the president-elect has decided to renovate what was called "The United States Of America" and make it a utopia for all those who lived there. Other countries loved this idea and made it a reality for their people, but many others disagreed with it.
The war of 2048, or the Anarchy War, was a time when nuclear bombs were dropped everywhere and sunk 90% of the land on Earth, the remaining 10% being left for us survivors that were now living in City X. Somehow from all that happened back then, the explosions left only one chunk of land close together. I do have to say, it's kind of a miracle that it happened.
Speaking of which, since the effects of nuclear explosions can fry circuits and electronics, we were implemented with a special layer of material to protect us from the remaining electromagnetic pulses left in the atmosphere. From what I currently know, the layer is made up of mostly lead, with other materials being throw in the mix for extra protection that was made by us.
City X also had made many advancements into trying to rebuild the Earth, including creating a whole new layer in the sky to make up for stratosphere that was destroyed during the war. We even built a whole protective wall to also help protect us, the bricks infused with the materials that made the protective layer inside of us to make the ultimate building material.
Anyway, it's a boring history and science lesson, I know. But you do need to know the time period we're in and what happened, since it will play a part in the plot later on.
Getting back on track... 10 years ago... it was such a long time ago, but it feels like it just happened. What happened that day changed my life forever, in neither a good or bad way. It started with the first day of kindergarten, also the day I turned five years old.
A new student was joining our class, and he was from the North Side of City X. The North Side is where the government headquarters were located, and where the most important people lived. Celebrities, workers in high ranks, wealthy assholes, you name it.
The Southern side is where middle-class people lived, just enjoying life how it normally was. Nothing fancy, just normal everyday people and places. Nothing was expensive or cheap, and everything was just... normal.
The East and West Sides were the complete opposites of the North Side. Everyone that was poor and survived the war lives there, future generations having almost nothing but scraps and trash for food. But somehow they survived, not caring about the luxury the other two sides had
"Alright, students. We have a new boy joining our class today. He's from the Northern side of City X, but here, we are all equal no matter where we come from," Our teacher, Mx. Webber, said, letting us get to view of the new student from the North Side.
That's where I met Damien. Back then, he didn't have the red dye, but he did have the fire in his eyes that were always stuck in my head.
I sat right in front of where he stood, our eyes meeting just for a second. His expression quickly changed, like he knew something I didn't. That got me a little scared. I'm one to get overly anxious about certain things, especially if it could be a bad thing.
"Pip. Pip. PIP!" The teacher yelled at me, making me look up to see a tall-ish figure standing above me. I felt their eyes burning into my head, making me more nervous than I already was.
"Can you show Damien around the school? And not freak out over small things like last time?" They asked, handing me a paper full of information. I glanced down at it and read a few words, nothing important in my perspective; just his name.
