CHAPTER 14
"What?" Rosalynn had her face morphed in a frown as she asked in disbelief. Before Archer knew it, he was standing in front of the self proclaimed brother within seconds, with Rosalynn safely tucked behind him.
"What are you playing at, boy?" His hands found them self in the stranger's collar, holding tightly as he said in a slurred speech.
"Nothing, Alpha. It's just been a long time since I've seen my sister." The man said as he took Archer's hand away from his collar and adjusted his wrinkled shirt, respectively.
"I'm the only child. What are you talking about?" Rosalynn stood on her tip toes and rested her head on Archer's broad shoulders, peeking at the stranger. Archer slowly took deep breaths to calm himself down from wanting to have her within his arms.
"The only child? Don't you remember me? Clare? Clary? You always call me that." Archer could feel sadness and disappointment emitting the man.
"I'm sorry, Rosalynn. My boyfriend probably got you mixed up with someone." Savannah said emphasizing the word boyfriend as she nudged her boyfriend to the dinner table.
"Rosie, you have father's eyes." The man said quickly as he followed his girlfriend to the dining room, hand by hand. Archer could feel his wolf on edge, his claws itching to scratch a deep wound at the man's side, his canines pulsing to bite down his jugular, and his throat parched for his blood. But the fact he as his sister's mate and possibly Rosalynn's brother made him stop to think it over again. He turned around to go out the door when he felt Rosalynn's hands wrapped around his muscled waist. Her face cuddled against his back. Immediately, he felt his wolf calm and his unwanted objects retreating, except for one.
"Stay with me." Rosalynn softly whispered, muffled against his shirt. Archer turned around and placed his forehead against hers. "Run away with me." She felt his warm yet alcohol laced breathe tickle her pulsing lips as he spoke those words. With no apprehension, she found herself saying those fated words, "Alright."
Archer smirked and grabbed her wrist as he pulled her out of the front door. They ran together into the chill of the nightly air. "Where are we going?" Rosalynn shouted over the sound of their thudding footsteps.
"I want to show you something." Archer answered.
"Another surprise, I presume?" Rosalynn laughed and Archer felt his own mouth twist into a smile from her twinkling laughter.
"You know me, alright." He laughed along as they reached an outskirt of a forest surrounded by shrubs and greenery. As they walked on further, a path of yellow step stones lit the way.
"What is this? Wizard of OZ?" She softly murmured but Archer catch-ed her little comment due to his heightened hearing. "No, I was going for romantic, but that can also work too. Pretend you're in a fairy tale where nothing evilish can get to you."
"Fairy tale? Evilish? You're such a dork, Archer." Rosalynn laughed and skipped along the pathway with Archer's hand still clutched with hers.
"I am not a dork." He said with a slight scoff.
"Yup, you are. You're very adorkable." She said as she pinched his cheeks. He gazed to her with his loving blue eyes. How lucky am I to find such a wonderful mate.
"Archer?" She wondered, still holding on to his warm hands.
"Hmm?"
"Why do you always stop in the middle of kissing?" She questioned quickly capturing his attention.
