Lance was standing in the eye of a hurricane surrounded by his friends."Why are you even here, you're just a cargo pilot who got lucky. You can't fly, you can't fight, you can't even take anything seriously" Keith said, sneering at him. "W-what?" Lance stuttered out. "He's telling you the truth," Shiro said, glaring at him,"we all hate you, you're useless." "We're replacing you, Allura will fly the Blue Lion" Pidge said. Hunk did nothing to defend him, he wouldn't even look at Lance.
Suddenly, Lance was falling through darkness. He just kept falling for what felt like hours until he hit water. He took a deep breath before he sank below the surface. The water was different from what Lance had ever experienced, it was thick like molasses and clung to him dragging him deeper and deeper.
He struggled to swim to the surface, but as he got there the water started to freeze. He pounded his fist on the layer of ice above him, feeling his lungs burning, screaming for air. The water started to freeze around him, slowly getting closer to where Lance was. He noticed, and panicking, started hitting the ice, as hard as he could until his hands began to bleed.
As he struggled to stay consious the ice began to close in on him, trapping him.
Lance woke with a scream tearing out of his throat, tears streaming down his cheeks. He quickly slapped his hands over his mouth, worried that he may have woken someone up. He sobbed as he curled up beneath his sheets, hugging himself as he shook. He bit his lip hard enough to taste blood and pulling at his hair, digging his fingernails into his scalp.
He heard footsteps quickly getting closer, and whimpered at the thought of getting yelled at for waking someone. His fears were soon gone as Coran walked in "Are you alright, Lance? I heard screaming coming from your room." He said. His question was quickly answered as the crying boy leapt on him, squeezing tightly and sobbing into his shoulder. "Please don't replace me, I promise I'll do better." Lance whimpered into his shoulder.
Coran felt his heart drop into his stomach as he heard what the boy said. As he moved them over to the bed he asked "What makes you think we would replace you?". "Because I'm a horrible paladin. I'm useless, I can't fight, all I do is annoy people, and everyone hates me." Lance whispered as if it was a well known fact. Coran felt pained as he heard the boy he thinks of as a son say those things about himself.
"None of what you just said is true. You are valuable, endearing, and our sharpshooter. You're practically a son to me and I care about you so much." Coran said, wiping the tears off Lance's face. Lance looked at him with eyes full of tears, "Do you really mean that?" He questioned. "Does a Nyxlesprunt devour entire boulders?" At seeing the boys confused face he answered his own question, "....yes, it does."
Lance laid his head on Coran's lap. He always felt cared for when he was with Coran. Coran gently ran his fingers through Lance's hair as the boy laid his head on his lap. He began humming, hoping it would help lull the blue paladin into a peaceful sleep
Lance fell asleep to the sound of Coran's humming and his hands petting his hair.
Every time I type Coran it wants to autocorrect to corn man and honestly, that's one of the few things I love about writing. I see that people have been reading my story and I would like to thank you all.
