What Matters Most

    When I heard that Sang broke Mindy's nose, I was proud. If it was ok to hit a girl, I would have done it myself for what she did.

    I thought Mindy and I would get married. Sure, I started having feelings about Sang, who wouldn't in my position. But I could ignore them because while we weren't related by blood, she was still my cousin by marriage. What would her dad think? What was he going to think about our new living arrangements? God this was such a mess.

    While I sit in the waiting room for Dr. Robert's and Sean to finish up putting a cast on Sang's hand, I debate on whether to call John or not. He's a busy guy so he might not even answer.

"You want to call her dad don't you?" Owen and Axel sit on either side of me.

"He's going to kill me for letting her get hurt." I sigh.

"Let's go to the conference room. Everyone showed up five minutes ago while you were lost in your head." Axel stands up and looks down at me.

    I sigh and follow them to the conference room. This was a conversation I never wanted to have. Hopefully he won't want to take her away.

   When we got to the other guys sitting around the table relaxing and not worrying about anything, I felt better knowing that they were all here to help me. They wouldn't let Sang be taken away.

    Once the rest of us were settled into a chair, Axel and Owen took over. When they told me to call John, my hands started shaking. This was it.

"Hello Kevin." John answered.

    I put the phone on speaker and laid it in the middle of the table.

"Hi john." I could see the excitement to be on the phone with him from all my brothers including Axel and Owen.  If this wasn't making me so nervous I would laugh.

"So I just had an interesting conversation with Mindy."

    I groaned. Of course she would call him. While Mindy knows I'm a part of the Academy, she doesn't know about John. All she knows is that he knows about it.

"Oh yea?"

"Seems you kidnapped Sang. She said that you have completely lost it and brought her somewhere that isn't a healthy environment. She also said you told Sang a bunch of lies about her and now Sang won't even talk to her."

    I couldn't believe Mindy. She had completely lost her mind. What is her end game? Does she honestly think Sang would want to be her friend after what she did? If I had known that Mindy would turn out this way, we never would have dated.

"Sir. I promise that's a lie." I told him.

"Then is it a lie that you are at the hospital because Sang got hurt while under your care?"

"Damn it." I shouted. "Sir please let me explain." I pleaded.

"Then it explain Kevin and it better be good or I'll take Sang somewhere where I know she'll be safe."

    So I explained. I told him everything that has happened in the last forty-eight hours. I didn't leave one detail out. Just as I was on the part about us waiting to see how she was, Sean came in with Dr. Robert's. They sat down quietly while I finished.

"And how is she? Do I need to come home?" John asked on a sigh.

"John?" Dr Robert's cut in. "How's everything going in DC?"

"Phil?" John sounded surprised. "It's a mess here but I'm dealing with it. I hear there are some problems regarding Sang?"

"She's perfectly fine." I let Phil take over. "She broke her hand in a few places but from what Dakota Lee said, Mindy is going to sporting two black eyes with the broken nose Sang gave her." Phil laughed.
