The first day back to school after Winter break was Tuesday. Later that night, it started snowing. I put my bags by the door and got a warm and comfy outfit ready to change into for the morning. Em and I end up calling each other the minute snow falls to gush about our mini vacation. At around one in the morning, we hang up so we can text Tony and Carson. Tony creates a group chat for the four of us to inform that he's leaving his house at four in the morning. He'll pick up me first, then Carson, then Em. I bid everyone goodnight so I can get some sleep before tomorrow.
And who can guess that I ended up staying up to read Wattpad? Because I do!
When I wake in the morning, I skip taking a shower, knowing its going to be cold. I take a glance outside as I get dressed. There is a decent enough blanket of snow covering the ground, the layer on the road pushed around by tires. It's still dark outside, so I can't make out the brightness of the snow. I look down at my warm clothes, hoping their enough against the cold outside. Black skinny jeans, brown knitted boots that reach up just under my knees, white tank-top, cropped maroon sweatshirt, white hoodie for an extra layer, and my black vest with fur-rimmed hood. I add my black knit beanie for extra warmth along with the matching scarf.
By the time I finish getting dressed and I make sure everything is packed, my phone rings. Tony. He's outside, waiting in the warmth of his truck. I quickly grab my bags and rush outside, making sure to lock the door behind me. Even with the short amount of time I was in the cold, I felt like I got frostbite. I quickly put my suitcase in the covered bed of his truck and jump into the passenger seat with my backpack. It's holding my tablet, laptop, cords, headphones, earbuds, portable chargers. What? I wanted to be prepared.
We swing by to pick up Em and Carson, then we hit the road, music fueling our decision.

It stopped snowing in the middle of the night, so it was clean besides the roads. Sometime in the middle of the day, it started again. I may or may not have been asleep. After a good two hour nap, I wake up to see Tony concentrated on the road, trying to see through the snow. It's not as heavy as it was last night, but it's still dense. I straighten up, earning me a glance from Tony.
I stay awake for the rest of the ride so he doesn't feel lonely and he knows I'm there to support him. When the assent up the mountain starts, I poke Em and Carson. They're fully awake by the time we roll into the driveway. It's been shoveled free of last night's snow, allowing another thin coat to take it's place. I jump out, rubbing my hands together before blowing on them as I stand admiring the cabin in the cold.
Tony and Carson fetch for our bags as Em and I huddle together. The cabin itself is quite large, towering over us, almost reaching the height of the pine trees surrounding it. I admire how the sun reflects off the large windows. For a winter cabin, it's very modern. It has the rustic look of brick on the outside, wood paneling on the inside.
I guide Em inside, the boys trailing behind with our luggage. But they drop everything when they see the inside. The entryway is the size of two floors. There are two stair cases that curve up the sides of the circular room. A wooden railing allows anyone of the second floor to look out over the entryway.
Through the archway to the left is a dining room, the walls a pristine cream. A large, mahogany table sits in the center, three matching chairs on each side. Along the wall of the front of the house is two narrow windows, a wooden cupboard with glass doors in the middle. The wall opposite the archway into the room has a large window. On the last wall of the room is covered mostly cupboards with china dishes besides the swinging door into the industrial kitchen. It's filled with top of the line machines and dark granite counter top to accent the white cabinets and marble floors.
