"Toffee, meet Elisa." Ariyane says awkwardly, what was that about? She had never been awkward around me, I mean I have seen her at her worst and best.
"Elisa, pretty name." I softly say and lean in to give her a hug. She smells pretty good if I do say so myself.
A smile erupted on her face as she let out a sigh of relief. What the hell was happening? It was almost as if she was looking for my approval- OH.
Ohh.
"So Elisa, tell me about you." I ask, as I sit down on the sofa, both of them slightly touching still looking slightly anxious.
"Well, I'm a proud art history graduate. What else? Um, I like pizza and hot cheetos." Her pretty eyes shine and I notice her clothes. Wow, practically the opposite of Ariyane who was dressed head to toe in black, she had a white dress and pumps.
"Is there anything you want to tell me Ari?" I quirk my head towards her, she slightly stiffens and takes her lip ring into her mouth and furrows her brows.
If you couldn't already tell, I have a strong suspicion that she is gay. Always have had one, perhaps because I've seen her get extremely close to her best girl friends and never had any boys who she'd been slightly interested in hanging around the house.
"Y-you know?" She stutters and her face whitens. Almost as if she'd seen a ghost as Elisa shuffles uncomfortably.
"Yes big sister and I couldn't give less of a crap whether you're gay, bi or identify as a chair." I giggle and jump on top of her on the couch, my arms wrapping around her fully.
"I love you baby toff." She whispers into my hair and I hear her sniffle.
"Hey," I start, as I stand up, staring back down at her. "I don't mind if you're gay but you know I hate tears!" I mock and point a finger down at her.
Elisa runs her thumb underneath her eyes and I see her gulp. Still looking pretty shaken up from the deep conversations that had just been sprouted on us today.
"Mum knew you know. She didn't care either." I choke out.
"What do you mean?"
"Well one time, mum asked me if at a wedding both the girls can where dresses. I asked why she was wondering and she said because she saw you checking out Millie next door." I laugh a sad laugh and so does Ariyane. Her colour coming back once again.
A good thing comes out of her being gay is that we won't be fighting over boys anytime soon. I don't have to worry about her cheating on me with my boyfriend. And she doesn't have to worry about me stealing any of her girls.
"Now, I have a party in an hour and a half so I gotta skidaddle."
The contents of my wardrobe surrounded me as I tried to choose what to wear. Black dress? I'm always in black. The flowery one? To girly.
This is the dress. Red and fitted, showing of curves. Tyler used to tell me that it was to revealing and didn't look flattering on me. But now as I look into the mirror, all I can think is yes.
I pair it with black stilettos and start on my hair and makeup. Nude lips, sharp wings and false lashes. Definitely some foundation and concealer to hide my bags.
My hair straightened to the pulp as I usually liked it. It had grown a lot, it now touched the bottom of my back/ tailbone? The raven colour contrasting perfectly with the natural tan glow of my skin. Checking the time, I realise that I betted leave.
"Ari," I call down hallway and start to head towards the sitting room. "Do you have some money for an uber?" I beg, fluttering my eyelashes at her.
"Actually why doesn't Elisa give you a lift? She drove here and it would be great if you got to know her." She willingly suggests and I turn towards Elisa.
"I don't mind doing it, honestly Octavia." Elisa says and I thank her.
We start to head towards the front door and I make sure to give Ari a hug, from the corner of my eye seeing them share a lip kiss.
"You have a cute car." I comment, as we take a seat in her silver mini.
"Really? You like it? I bought it last month for my twenty first birthday." Excitement rushes through her and I can tell that she really did work hard for the car.
"Here's the address." I pass my phone to her, revealing the numerous texts that Ryan had made sure to send my way. Not wanting to have the off chance that I would bail on him and not go to the party. Eve and Becka had also made sure I was going.
"You didn't have to do this y'know Elisa."
"I honestly don't mind and that's the realio dealio." She responds and goes back to concentrating on her driving.
Unable to deal with silence for very long, although at least it wasn't awkward silence, I carry on jabbering. "So how did you meet?"
The most boring question in the entire world but I actually did want to know. I mean, is heard her name being thrown around before while eating or watching a movie but not in extent.
"However cliche this may be for two lesbians, we met at a women's march about a year ago. I don't know I just remember her being slightly drunk and bubbly and we hit it off." A smile attaches to her face before it slightly falls.
"If only my parents would accept her because I love her."
This part is whispered as if she didn't exactly want me to hear it but being a chismosa I always here the gossip even if I'm fifty yards away.
"What do you mean?"
Shut up all you Justin Bieber fans. Who am I kidding literally me.
"I'm from Zimbabwe. I'm African and my parents are very religious, I don't think they'll every accept me for who I am. I told them two weeks ago and they shut the door on my face."
Unsure of what to say, I let the silence consume us and just let us both fall deep into thought until we reach the party and my anxiety heightens off of the roof.
Ready to make boys jealous left and right? Oh yes.
