C H A P T E R  26 | CRYING FOR HIM

No words came out.

Instead I stood there like and idiot as I realized he had just told me his real name. Hazen?

"I-I have some homework I gotta finish." I said walking toward the staircase. I awkwardly ran upstairs faster than I should have.

Great now this makes me feel like an even bigger liar. Haze was going to hate me if he finds out I'm Lain and that I'm apart of the south, that I was his enemy.

Everything I felt was real, that was never fake.

I locked the door and turned up the music on my phone. It seemed like a good distraction for Haze who would probably think I was studying. In my blond wig I climbed out of the window and casually made my way to the front door.

It's not as easy as it looks on the movies.

I knocked twice on the large wooden door until Haze opened it. His expression explained everything, that he didn't want to see me.

"Why do you keep showing up?"

"I keep feeling the need to apologize." I admit.

"Now is not the time, Elaina's home." He says.

"How does that effect anything?" I asked.

"She seems a little off and emotional right now, the last thing I want to hear is her nagging about me inviting some girl in."

I clenched my fist. Is that really what this idiot thought of me? Some emotional wreck who nagged all the time? Well I see his point.

"When can we talk?" I asked.

He shrugs. "I guess we can talk now, let me just go tell-"

"No, you were right before I don't think Elaina should know I'm here." I said nervously gripping his wrists, I let go. "Do you wanna go get something to eat?"

Haze sighs. "I'll go get my keys."

I waited patiently beside the passenger door before Haze unlocked the car which let me inside. "In and Out?"

"Yes." I practically moaned at the thought. "I mean yeah, a milkshake sounds great right now."

Haze drove to the nearest restaurant until we arrived and waited inside for are milkshakes.

"Vanilla?" I said to him.

"Is there a problem?" He raised and eyebrow.
