C H A P T E R 42 | THERE SHE WAS
The parking lot was dark and empty with occasional cars leaving and couples walking inside. I followed the muffled cry's coming from the side of the school building.
"Stay there." Victor spat holding a knife to Aspens throat. Her lip quivered as she cried out. I began raising my hands up in defense stepping closer.
"Just let her go Victor. Please?"
Victor grins disgustingly at me. "She's so soft y'know? It'll be easy to cut her throat open."
My arms were suddenly held behind my back roughly until a car pulled up and threw us both inside. A man tied up are wrists and ankles together with zip ties until we arrived at some abandoned factory.
They tossed us out of the car like trash ruining are dresses. Assholes. "Elaina are we going to die?" Aspen asks as are faces laid against the dirt. I shook my head. To be honest I had no idea what was going to happen to us.
"Get them."
The men pick us up carrying us both to and empty room where we were locked inside. The only hope I had was getting my gun out of my garter and shooting these people. Who knows how many people were here?
"This is all my fault." Aspen cries.
"No." I told her. "They were obviously following us waiting to attack. This could have been a lot worse."
Victor walks through the door making me scoot further into the cold brick walled corner behind me. "Tables have turned haven't they?" He laughs. "But instead this time you won't be making it out alive like I did."
I spit in his face making him wince and wipe it clean. He swings his hand across my face. I could feel my cheek pulsating at the impact. "Since your dad has only a few months to live I thought why not let him live, he'll die slowly either way."
I pulled against the zip ties struggling more and more. "What do you want?!"
"I want you dead Elaina!" He growls. "You fucking spoiled little brat." Again he takes another swing leaving my lip to bleed. "I'll be back."
He leaves without another word. I sat there just hoping Haze was on his way to save us.
I tried reaching for my gun knowing this could be a horrible idea. It was dangerous for Aspen. Suddenly Scar walks in looking at me. I've known him since I was a child he's always been there for me. What changed?
