I got up off the couch at 10 am to find Nathan not there. No one was there. I was all alone. I went into the bathroom and took a shower figuring they'd all come home later. Once I was done showering and doing my make up, getting dressed, doing my hair, etc. I went into the living room- still no one home.
"Well let's make this fun..." I whispered to myself. I picked up the TV remote and turned on the music channel and started dancing and singing to Payphone and few other songs. I took a break and got a drink then started up again. This time I found a broom in the closet but to me it was a microphone. Call Me Maybe came on and I went all super star on the mic- broom.
"Hey! I just met you! And this is crazy! But here's my number SO CALL ME MAYBE!" I was so into the song I didn't even hear the door open. I was whipping my hair around and I turned around to see everyone standing in the door way cracking up! I dropped the broom and giggle.
"Soooo you were watching for how long?" I asked full of laughter.
"Well we walked in at- damn!" Tom said smiling.
"What uhm, what?" I was beyond confused.
"You didn't tell us you could sing." Nathan's jaw looked like it was about to hit the floor.
"Oh uhm- hehe" I let out a fake giggle.
"Well uhm wow." Nathan came over and hugged me. "What's your favorite song of ours?" He asked me suspiciously.
"Erm Lie To Me... Why?" I was curious as to why this was even relevant to our conversation.
"Sing it." Jay joined in. I guess they were thinking the same thing. I started to sing the song and they smiled.
"Say it, though you're looking down..." I finished the song and they all clapped jokingly. "Wait am I missing something?!" I asked panicing.
"Not at all, but it looks like we just got a guest performer for tonights gig!" Max exclamied giving me a hug.
"Woah woah woah what?!?!?!?!?!?!" My face went blank. "I- I no tonight- sold out... five thousand- I ca-ca-" I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth in a sentence.
"You can and you will be amazing. Wear red you will match me." Nathan kissed my cheek and left the room. I collapsed on the couch and tried to wrap my brain around this. I'm singing... on stage... in front of five thousand people, with The Wanted which is the band I love, and my boyfriend- Nathan Sykes is in it. My boyfriend NATHAN SYKES. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths.
"Is it just sinking in?" Cheyenne asked me plopping down on the sofa next to me.
"Yes." I told her astonished.
"You'll do great I promise. If you can sing in front of five hundred people as your first solo performance ever, then you can absolutely perform in front of five thousand with five other amazing boys who are famous." She smiled and I gave her a hug.
"Thanks Chey. But we have a slight issue..."
"Oh dear lord!" She rolled her eyes. "What now Kay?" She asked me.
"I don't have anything red that's stage worthy." I exclaimed. "You kno what that means right?!"
"SHOPPING!" SHe jumped up and grabbed her wallet from the sofa. I ran into my room and grabbed my purse. We head into this little boutique that was five blocks away.
"Hello ladies!" The sales clerk said smiling and approaching us. "What can I help you with today?" She was wearing a black pencil skirt and pink satin blouse.
"I need a red dress that is 'stage' worthy." I told her smiling.
"Stage worthy? Can I ask where you are going?"
"Oh I am singing with my boyfriend at his concert tonight."
"Oh is he in a local band?" She asked relieved, thinking I was some famous celebrity at first.
"Uhm not exactly... ever heard the song Glad You Came?" She gave me a mind blown look.
"Know it?! It's my ringtone! You are dating one of them?" She asked me enthusiastically.
"Yep!"
"Alright I have a few options one second." She came back five minutes later with three dresses. A velvety one shoulder body con dress, a red seguin mini tube skirt with a pearl satin tank top, and a red cupcake dress. I tried them all on but there was one obvious winner. The red sequin skirt. I picke dout a pair of shoes from the shop that were black velvet platforms with a red sole.
"Thank you so much!" I said to the cashier before leaving.
"Any time! But when you're famous make sure you come back and spread the word." She laughed.
"haha will do!" I smiled and headed out the door. Once we got back home it was around three pm. We had to leave for sound check in fourty five minutes. I decided I would get changed and prepared at the venue and surprise Nath and the rest of the boys once I came out on stage. I walked in the door, "Of course she went shopping again! You know when we share a bank account you're going to run me dry!" Nathan said chuckling.
"Well we have to be married for that." I said winking.
"I know that baba." He said kissing my forehead. I headed to the bedroom. Wait did he just imply that we were uuuhm.., I cleared my mind and packed everything I needed to get ready at the concert. Make up hair spray, curling wand, clothes and of course perfume. I grabbed my bag that I got from the boutique and left the room. It wasn't just a shopping bag, it wascovered in black lace and had pink ribbon handles. The under layer was a durable dreme colored carboard and it had a big pink velour L on the front. The L stood for Lori, who was the owner of the ' Lori's Boutique ' go figure. I found the boys and stood with them while they went over minor details with Martin and Kev about tonights performance. We got in the van a bit later and then the boys went straight to sound check. I watched it for a while and came in on my que and practice Lie To Me- which was something we'd never done but it played out perfectly. It was mainly just me and Nathan singing to each other so it set a really nice mood. After wards I went to my room and started to get ready. The boys sang five songs and at the beginning of Lightning I stood on my little x backstage and waited until the intro after the song for me to come out.
"Ok tonight we have a special guest. Some of you may know her as Nathan's girlfriend! Put your hands together for Kayla!!!!" The intro to Lie To Me started and I walked out singing. Me and Nath stood at the front of the stage facing each other singing our parts until the chorus.
"Don't say it's all for the better, I need you to lie, to lie to me." We sang this part together then Nathan started his verse, "So kiss me." I threw in a little speaking line for myself when he sang that. I quietly said ok and a few girls caught it and checkled. Nathan heard it to and he smiled at me. We went on with the song and when we were done he pulled me in for a really big hug. He pulled my cheek towards his face and gave me a huge kiss.
"That's my girl Kayla everyone!!!!" I smiled at the crowd, lifted my hand and spoke into my microphone.
"Thank you everyone!!" I blew a kiss and waved good bye while I walked away with the worlds biggest smile on my face.
"Wasn't she great?!" Max yelled into his mic. The crowd cheered and clapped. "Alright this next one is our newest single so sing along if you know it." Chasing The Sun started. After that song the boys ended with Glad You Came and then headed backstage to find me and Cheyenne and the rest of the crew.
