Rose
"Rose?"
The sound of her name startled her. For one brief moment, as Rose watched the two Demons making their way towards her, stumbling and groaning words she didn't understand, Rose thought she was alone. Rather, Rose wished she was alone. Because when her head swiveled to the left, in the direction of the voice, Rose felt like someone punched her in the stomach when she saw Carters wary expression pointed at her.
"Carter, get out of here."
Rose directed the words to him, but her gaze was back to being focused on the beings in front of her. With the sun completely set by now, and the only light coming from the old and yellow flickering street lamps that were spaced every hundred feet, Rose had to squint in order to fully see the Demons as they made their way towards her and Carter.
When their two assailants stepped into the soft glow of one of the street lamps, Rose got a good view of them. With pale skin, mangled looking dark hair, and torn clothing, to the normal person they may have looked like two grungy homeless men. Rose, however, knew better. She watched as the light flickered off of their dark, soulless eyes. Watched as they tripped over their own steps, moaning in pain every time they gasped for air. Rose was familiar with all of the signs now.
By the looks of it, they were in bad shape. The magic was killing them. However, looks could be deceiving, and no matter how weak they may be on Demon scale, they were still a hell of a lot stronger and more experienced than Rose, and it would be in her best interest to keep that in mind.
"Rose, what the hell is going on with you?"
When Carter spoke up from behind her again Rose wanted to throttle him. She had blindly hoped that he would listen to her and hightail it out of there. But, why would he? He was a gentleman, and he was completely oblivious to the threat that these two beings posed. And to make matters worse, he thought she was going insane. Why wouldn't he? Without a word of explanation she had rushed him out of a diner, ran him halfway across town, and now was appearing to have a mental breakdown as two appearing-to-be crippled men stumbled their way towards them.
"Remember that crap Mira told you I was going through? This," Rose gestured wildly towards the two Demons, who were now only twenty-or-so yards away from them. "Is that crap. Now, go."
Carter, following Roses waving hand, looked once again at the two men, this time his eyes hardening. Rose assumed he was trying to figure out why she was so worked up about this. Rose had to fight back the urge to smack him upside the head and scream in his face to just listen to her for once. But she didn't. Rose remained somewhat externally calm, her eyes flickering between Carters confused face and the slow approaching danger.
"I'm not leaving without you."
Rose groaned, hating the fact that chivalry had been shoved down his throat since his birth. Right now, chivalry was going to be the death of him. But she couldn't tell him that she could handle herself because she had supernatural strength and magic (regardless of how new that was). She was about to grab his shoulders and shake him like a maraca, demanding he leave her and run out of here, when her phone chirped.
And she nearly kicked herself in the ass for not thinking about it.
Without even checking the caller ID because she knew exactly who it was, Rose, with very shaky hands, brought the phone to her ear.
"Where the hell are you?" Rose ignored the raised voice and hard words, and focused on how, for once, she was thankful to hear Damians angry words.
