Chapter 1
Sometimes, I think I'm dreaming. Nothing of this feels real. I swear I have to pinch my arm every five seconds to see if this is really happening. Every time he looks at me, every time he smiles. I can't believe it's real. This is how it started,
I'm running late, as always. I swear I'm never early to anything. I cannot miss my plane. I can't. My mother glances over at me, she can tell I'm worried. "You're not going to miss it Em." She says. I shrug my shoulders. "Aren't you going to miss me at all?" She asks. I chuckle, "Of course I'm going to miss my nagging, crazy mother." She narrows her eyes at me. "Wait, I wasn't finished. My crazy, naggy, and loving mother." I smile. She can't help but smile too. We finally get to the airport after a couple of more minutes in dreadful traffic. I quickly grab my suitcase, shuffling through the many crowds of people. My plane is boarding soon. Here we go, I gues... My mother walks me to my gate, and looks back at me. Her facial expression changed. She's sad, I can see it in her eyes. "Emily, I'm going to miss you so much honey!" She holds me tightly against her chest. The scent of her perfume almost intoxicating me. "I'll miss you too mom. I gotta hurry though, or I'm going to miss my flight." I said. "Yes, yes. I know. I just dont want to let you go."
"Mom, it only for the summer-" "ALL FLIGHTS GOING TO LONDON, ENGLAND ARE BOARDING NOW." The intercom announced."Alright, I suppose I should let you go now.." I smiled at my mother. Her short, light brown hair fell delicatley along her cheeks as her forehead creased. "Don't be so sad.." She wiped tears from her eyes and looked up at me. "Oh, and I'm going to miss you too." I add. She laughs, and her warm lips touch my cheek, giv ing me one more hug before she lets me go.
The plane wasn't too full. I sat by myself next to the window. This was the first time I was going so far on my own. I've lived in California all my life . The only other time I traveled alone was when I went to Arizona to visit my aunt and uncle.
I've always wanted to be a photographer. This is why I'm going to England. There's a summer program I looked into there that seemed fantastic. It was like a summer art school. Three months of something I've always loved to do. I am now the age of eighteen, it's my summer before college. Oh joy. I've been looking forward to this for months now. I've never been outside the country.
I took in a deep breath as the plane began to shift and fly into the sky. I looked out my window..Goodbye California, hello London.

"You are in room 424. Which is just across the hall." I smiled at the kind lady who redirected me to my room.
My first couple of hours in England were already pretty great, despite my butt going numb on the plane and the bags under my eyes- a feeling of overwhelming excitement consumed me. I couldn't believe I was here. I entered room 424 and took in a breath. It smelled so clean and resh. The room was white and plaie, followed by the small tidy beds.
"Heyo!"
I turned around and saw a tall girl sitting in the doorway. She spoke in a British accent. "Hi." I replied.
"You must be my roomie!" She smiled. Her skin was pale, and her lips were a soft pink. It complimented her long platnum blonde hair. "Yeah, I guess I am." I replied. She stuck out her hand for me to shake.
"Im Hanna"
"Emily."
"Well Emily, do you mind if I take the bed on the left?" She asked.
"Of course not. Help yourself. "
She set down her luggages and plopped herself on the bed.
"I think this room is rather plain, don't you?" She chuckled. I nodded. "We'll have to make it more liveable. We could go shopping sometime." "I'd like that." I replied.
