Chapter 22

"Wher- Where's my phone?" I stuttered. "You're not going to ring him up and yell at him are you?"

"Hanna where is my phone?"

"Are you listening to me!?" Hanna shouted. "I just need to speak to him!" I said, grabbing my phone from the bed. "Don't jump to any conclusions-"

I shushed her and she stood quiet. The phone rang and rang. He didn't answer, so I tried again.

 "Emily? I thought you were sleeping love." He finally spoke.

"Louis. Tell me, where were you yesterday?"

"Yesterday? What do you mean? What's wrong?"

"Tell me the truth." I said sternly.

"I ate with I friend, I told you-"

"A friend?" I scoffed.  "you were with her. How could you lie to me?"

"With her? You mean- You mean Eleanor?" He stammered.

"Why would you lie to me?"

"Emily.."

"You're not.." I couldn't finish my sentence. "I was going to explain..Remember?"

"You didn't explain. You didn't say anything. I barely got a three minute phone call from you." I scolded.

"Alright, I deserve that- But nothing happened! Harry was there. You can speak to him."

"I don't want to speak to him. How could you?"

"I ran into her near our hotel. She's been getting offers for modeling jobs, so she was in LA.."

"Oh! I can't believe you!" I yelled.

"Emily! Please, I didn't do anything wrong!"

"You said you hated her! Why would you even think of going out with her and then not tell me!?"

"We spoke! We had a couple drinks. Harry was there for a bit, but then he had to leave. Nothing happened. Don't believe anything you hear. Believe me, your boyfriend!" He pleaded.

"Boyfriend.." I muttered. "Hear the sincerity in my voice..Nothing happened. I regret not telling you sooner, okay? You have to believe me. I'll fly over there and beg your forgiveness on my knees if I have to. I-"

"Don't you ever do that to me again.." I whispered.

"I would never cheat on you..I love you. It was just dinner. It will never happen again, alright? But please, stay with me. Trust that I love and respect you enough to never hurt you." He said. His voice was soft, and suddenly I imagined his blue eyes looking into mine. I wished he was here with me.

"Why should I believe you?" I mumbled.

"I have never lied to you. I love you. I miss you- Eleanor's just a friend."

"I didn't think you two would ever be friends from what you told me."

"We resolved a couple of things last night-"

"Oh did you?" I laughed sarcastically.  "Im getting on a plane back to London tomorrow."

"No..Stop. I don't want  to see you right now. I don't even want to hear you-"

"Emily. Please?"

I hung up the phone, throwing it on my bed. Hanna didn't bother to ask questions. I switched off the lights and we each crawled into our beds. Nothing was said that night after I ended the call.

I didn't cry. I didn't do anything but lay there. I couldn't sleep and the hours moved by throughout the night. I know it didn't seem like anything happened, but I still couldn't believe why he wouldn't of told me. My phone flashed many times throughout the night. Dozens of texts and voice mails were left, and then they just stopped. Maybe he grew tired. Why would he speak to her again? Why would they even be friends after what she did? I didn't understand him, but my heart wanted to trust him.

I was awake when the sun rose around 6 am. That's when I recieved another call, but it wasn't from Louis. "Hello?" I whispered, slowly running into the bathroom.

"Hey. You sound tired." Harry said. "Did he have you call?" I asked. "Louis? Er, No. He didn't actually."

"Then why are you calling? You're not going to try and explain thing's are you?"

"Em, he didn't do anything wrong. I promise. The mate hasn't slept all night. I had to stop him from getting on a red eye flight. He's really upset with himself." Harry spoke.

"He should be. Harry, thanks for calling but-"

"He loves you Emily, and I would tell you if anything went wrong. I know Louis. He adores you."

"He should've told me." I said.  "He was trying to find the right words to say and he took too long, then the media got a hold of pictures and everything blew out of proportion."

"I want to believe him.."  "Believe." He said.

"Thanks Harry." I mumbled. "You're welcome. Speak to him later. Our flight back to London leaves tomorrow."

"Maybe I'll come by the airport." I sighed. "Alright! Sounds like a plan."

"Don't get excited Harold."

"Ohh right. Em, before I go- Could I ask you something?"

"Sure, what is it?" I asked. "Say hello to Hanna for me." He said. I smiled, "I will. Bye Harry."

 ~~~
"So you're going to forgive him just like that?" Adam said. I took a sip of my coffee and shrugged my shoulders. "I don't think he did anything."
"Have you seen that girl? He'd be stupid not t- Uh. I mean-"
I narrowed my eyes at him, and he smiled reaching out for my hand. "I'm kidding. He'd be stupid to let you go."
"Do you believe him?" I asked, pulling my hand away.  I hated when he did that.
"I want to say no.. But honestly- I..suppose he could be telling the truth."
"You really think so?"
"I don't think he'd by the type to cheat, but hell. I don't know him. He could be a lying sack of potatoes for all I know."  Adam said, running his fingers through his dark brown hair.
"I love him." I mumbled. "You can't let that blind you from the truth." He said.
"It's not. I trust him."
"Then are you going to see him at the airport? You still haven't spoken to him since the other night."
"I want to. Should I?"
"Why must you ask me so many questions? Ask yourself. Only you can find the answer you're looking for." Adam said. I nodded, putting my bag around my shoulder.
They were coming home in a matter of hours now. I guess if I went to see him at his arrival, we could go back to his flat and speak in person.
