Chapter 24

Monday. One of the last few Monday's I'll have left in London. It's almost over. I have a little more than 3 weeks left. I think it's really going to hit me hard when Hanna and I have to start packing up our things. I don't want to leave. How did this summer just fly by? I feel like I just got here.

The room was cold, the sun was at the peak of rising. The sky was a dark blue and grey clouds covered the sky. I stretched my arms, eyes still closed. I didn't feel Louis.

I sat up on the bed, rubbing my face and moving my hair away. He wasn't in bed. That's odd. He usually sleeps in on his day off. I looked at the clock and it read 5:10 in bright red numbers.

How is he up before me?

I jumped out of bed, draping the blanket over my shoulders and covering myself. "Louis?" I called out.

I heard a noise. "Louis?"

It was music. I followed it until I found myself standing in front of a white door that was in the far end of the hallway. It was open just a crack. Slowly I creaked it open, and I saw him. I hadn't seen the inside of this room before. There were bookcases, guitars and large beautiful windows, but a grand piano sat in the very center. Louis sat there, moving his fingers along each key.

He hummed softly. It was a tune I wasn't familiar with. I walked towards him, the cold hardwood floors beneath my feet. I rested my hand on his shoulder and he jumped.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." I said. He smiled, pulling my arms around him.

"You didn't startle me too much."

I unwrapped my arms from around his neck, and he turned to face me. I leaned in close to him, kissing his cheek. "What are you doing up so early?" I asked. He shrugged, "I couldn't sleep. I'm sorry if I woke you."

"I have to get ready soon, you didn't wake me."

"Oh, that's right.."

"How come you've never showed me this room before?" I asked.

"They finished it just before we went to New York. I come in here every once in a while."

"Play me something." I muttered. He smiled, scooting over so that I could sit.

I sat down and he continued to play. It was a beautiful sound, almost as beautiful as his voice. I listened to him hum and mouth words quietly to himself as he touched each key.

"I don't know this. Is it new?" I asked. "Yeah. Let's say this is your little sneak peek."He said.

He gently grabbed my hand putting it over mine, guiding me as he played.

"Look you're playing the piano!"

"Hardly." I chuckled. "I could teach you without holding your hand." He looked up at me with a small smile on his face. "I dunno. I'm not too musical."

"No, that couldn't possibly be true. I haven't heard you sing yet."

I shook my head. "And you will never. It's not pretty, trust me. I take photo's. Occasionally draw- but sing. No. No."

Louis laughed, "Come on! I bet you sound adorable."

"Nope. You sing. Sing to me." I said, batting my eyelashes at him.

He cleared his throat and stood up straight. I tried not to laugh as he flipped his hair away from his face and pretended to roll up his sleeves.

He began to play once again and this time I recognized the song right away. Hanna had showed me this cover before.

"If you don't say this now, I will surely break. As I'm leaving the one I want to take. Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait. My heart has started to seperate."
