My dad came to the school about ten minutes later. Bridget was still sitting with me on the bathroom floor.
"You're lucky you have Chris. He's a really good guy and he won't let Noah go anywhere near you."
I was zoning her out. Truthfully, I kind of wanted her to leave. I appreciated having a friend to talk to and all, but I really wanted some privacy right now.
Suddenly the bathroom door slung open and Chris walked inside. "Hey honey, how are you doing?" He asked me in a comforting tone and put his arm around me.
I shrugged and I heard him sigh. I could tell he was mad and wanted to hurt someone for hurting me. "Well our dad is here so you can go home. And don't worry, I'll take care of Noah after school and then I am coming straight to see you." I nodded and stood. Chris jumped to his feet and helped me up.
We opened the bathroom door and I almost ran back in. I would have if Chris's arm wasn't wrapped tightly around my waist.
Chris was staring at Noah, looking like he was trying not to punch him right here.
"What do you think you are doing here?" Chris asked.
Noah smiled at him and I felt his arm tighten around me. "Where were you today Katt? I missed you in first period."
"Don't talk to her." Chris said. The tone of his voice froze the blood in my veins it was so cold.
Noah rolled his eyes and kept looking at me.
I felt Bridget grab my arm on my other side and pull me away. I started to follow her but Noah grabbed me. "Where do you think you are going? I'm not done talking to you."
"Yes you are." Chris yelled and punched him in his arm, making Noah drop his grip on me. "Bridget, take Katt to her dad." Chris took a step towards Noah and their noses were almost touching.
"Take Katt anywhere Bridget and I will beat the shit out of you." Noah said, his eyes glued on Chris's.
Bridget hesitated but pulled me down the hall, cursing under her breath.
I saw my dad in the front office, waiting impatiently. He looked up with an irritated expression on his face, which softened immediately when he took in my tear-stroked face.
I ran towards him, "Daddy, can go? Please?" I wrapped my arms around him and finally felt safe.
"Katherine, what's wrong?" He asked as he walked towards the front door.
"I was... I was ra-... maybe I can tell you later." The tears started coming again and I felt like I was about to faint or something.
"Of course honey." We were finally in the car and speeding away from the school.
I was curled up on the couch. My dad had to go back to work and I had the house to myself. The doorbell rang for the third time and I finally decided to answer it.
I opened the door to see Chris and Bridget standing there. Bridget had her mouth hanging open, admiring the size of my house.
Chris stepped forward and pulled me into a hug. When he pulled away a minute later I looked at him and almost gasped. "Chris! What happened to your face?"
I reached up and gently touched his eye. It was swollen and turning a purple/ brown color. His lip was cut and he had a small cut on the side of his face.
"After you left, Noah and I kind of got into a fight." He shrugged as he said this.
"If you think Chris looks bad you should see Noah! His entire face looks like his eye! And I think Chris broke Noah's leg or something! It was awesome!" Bridget chimed in, talking to fast to keep up.
"You didn't have to do that you know." I said.
He just shrugged again. "So I doubt you are going to school tomorrow?" He said.
"Not for a couple of days probably." I said.
"Awesome. We can hang out then; I got suspended for a week." His smile spread all the way across his face which made me laugh.
"Congratulations!" I whispered.
He laughed and walked past me and sat on my couch. "So what can we do to make you feel better?"
