Chris grabbed him and started pushing him out of the door. Noah was almost doubled over laughing, but he followed where Chris was pushing him. "Don't forge what we talked about Katty!"
Chris was mumbling something to Noah, and whatever it was made all of the blood drain from his face and nod his head hesitantly. Chris smiled and shoved him out of the house and slam the door in his face.
"You okay?" He asked as he sat next to me on the couch.
"No, I'm not actually. Why won't he just leave me alone?" Tears pooled in my eyes and slowly fell down my cheeks.
No matter where I went, I was always going to get into something that would temporarily destroy my life. At my old school I was bullied and had my self-esteem torn down to nothing, but somehow I built that back up. There was no way I was going to recover from this. Noah took something that I was never going to be bale to get back now.
Chris slung his arm around my shoulders and I fell into him and cried, and cried, and cried. He rubbed my shoulder and told me he was going to make everything all right.
After a while of us sitting like that, the doorbell rang.
"Come in!" I yelled, my voice hoarse from my crying.
"Are you crazy? You don't go around inviting random people into your house like that! What if it was a robber or something? You're just going to say 'come on in'?" Chris said, jokingly and serious at the same time.
"Well alright Dad. Why don't you go answer it then?" I asked.
The doorbell rang again, whoever it was must not have heard the welcome invitation.
"Because I am very comfortable right now. But you can go get it if you want." He smiled at me.
I stood up and padded across the living room. Somehow, me being the huge klutz I am, slipped and fell right on my butt with a giant thud. Chris' laugh filled the entire house, making me laugh, too. Even when I felt like my life was falling apart, he could always make it better.
He came up behind me and picked me up in a marriage cradle. Still laughing, he walked to the door with me in his arms just as the bell rang again.
He pulled the door open and Bridgett, my only girl friend at school, stood in the doorway. She laughed when she saw us.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked her.
"Well school just ended and I wanted to come check-up on you-" She looked directly at me and stopped short. "What the hell happened to you?!" She gasped.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"Is it really that bad?" Chris asked, biting his bottom lip.
"It looks horrible! What happened?" She asked again.
"What looks horrible?!" I repeated, looking back and forth between them.
"Noah stopped by." Chris didn't look at anyone but he had a guilty look on his face.
"And what were you doing during this? You are suppose to be here incase he comes to protect here, and look at her! Did you do anything?" She yelled.
He looked at the ground, "I'm sorry." He mumbled under his breath. I had never seen him look so defeated. He gently set me on the ground.
"Bridgett, shut up! He tried to protect me or whatever, and without him I'm Noah would still be here doing-" My mind flashed back to him trying to undress me, and I started crying again. Chris grabbed me in a hug and rubbed my back.
"I'm okay, I'm fine." I repeated, trying to control myself.
Bridgett nodded her head and grabbed my arm. "Well while I'm here we are at least going to fix you." She pulled me into the bathroom and closed the door behind us.
"I still have no clue what you are talking about." I said. But the second I looked in the mirror I understood completely. I had a bruise on my right cheek, the beginning of a black eye, a swollen lip, and a cut on my forehead. My hair was standing up in every possible direction and my eyes looked frazzled. I didn't remember getting hurt while he was here, but I guess I was wrong. I barely even recognized myself in the mirror.
She poured her purse out on the counter and make-up covering the surface. She grabbed some creams and covered my face.
"So, you and Chris huh?" She asked while she focused on trying to cover up my battle scars.
"What about us?" I asked.
"You seem very... comfortable together. Is anything going on there?" She asked.
I remembered our kiss in the kitchen right before Noah came. My fingertips and lips started tingling and I couldn't help but smile. "I don't know really. I like him, a whole lot actually. But I don't think I am ready for anything like that yet." I admitted.
She nodded her head. "I completely agree! You need time to recover from the situation with Noah."
"I know. I'm just lucky to have him at all."
"That's a good way of thinking. But since you aren't ready for a relationship or anything, I think I am going to ask Chris out on a date." She smiled as she said this, brushing powders across my face.
"What!?" I practically screamed.
"What? He's cute and I have a crush. No big deal. And you don't mind, do you?"
"Yeah, I kind of do mind." I said.
She shrugged and continued my make-up. "Well then I guess it's a good thing you don't have any claim on him. Because I am going to ask him out." She stopped my make-up and pulled a brush through my hair.
"Bridgett," I said at a loss for words. I thought that we were starting to be friends, and friends definitely don't steal other friend's boyfriends. The only problem is that he wasn't my boyfriend. "you can't do that to me. I mean, I really like Chris and he is the only thing that I have right now."
She tugged the brush roughly through my hair, making me yelp. "And I really like him, too. You have to get use to not getting everything that you want, pretty girl. So I am going to ask him out, you are going to be fine with it, and everything is going to be great. And if you're not fine with it, well that I guess you are going to lose your only friend. How sad."
"Well I'm not going to be fine with it! You don't understand, he is the only thing that is keeping me from losing my mind. I need him." I looked at her with pleading eyes.
"Alright, you're finished." She said as she finished my make-up, but I couldn't help but think how she really meant those words.
She threw open the bathroom door. "Chris! Come here! I have to ask you something!" She yelled. She turned around and gave me a wink. "Bye bitch." She whispered to me.
And for the millionth time today, I cried.
