________
"Come with me," he said walking towards their classes.
Lami stood hesitated, before she followed him. She prayed there were other students in the classroom.
Unfortunately, there wasn't.
"Come here," Zammilu softly said as he sat on the first bench of the first row.
Lami stood there, offended to the point she didn't hide her scowl.
"Look," he said sighing. "I just want to see how serious your condition is and ask you some questions."
Lami relaxed a bit before moving closer.
"Show me the left eye," he said.
Lami had a bit of a challenge opening the eye at first, but after a few moments she could keep it open. But the eyes kept shedding tears again.
Zammilu just sighed before placing his hand on her jaw and pulling her closer.
"Who poked your eye?" He said quietly, so he wouldn't startle her any further. He really didn't have a choice,he needs to know how bad it is before he takes her to the nurse.
"Abubakar," she said in a shaky voice, both her tears shedding tears now. She shook her head, trying to get his hand away.
"No look at me. Why would he do that? Look left now," he said examining the eye.
"Samee...Sameera asked him to...asked him to do it," Lami stammered, her heart racing like she ran a marathon.
"Sameera? Look up and down now, does it hurt? And,what's your name?" Zammilu said in he made direct eye contact with her. Lami froze, she wants the earth to open and swallow her whole. Maybe she was dying?
She looked around the classroom, trying to avoid his gaze, but only for it to fall on his face again. He's patiently waiting for her to respond. And she want to,only if her mouth will open.
"Lamina!" She blurted, then, there was that feeling of wanting to disappear again. But this time, what she felt was stronger.
His face screwed up in confusion. "What?" He asked.
Embarrassment. Lami recognized that feeling now.
"Amina Hassan, yes it hurts," she said pronouncing her name carefully now. Like she saying a foreign name for the first time.
"Okay, Amina. I need you to close your right eye and try looking with the left eye," he said.
Lami did as she was told. "I can't see,it's looks unclear," she said.
"That's it,come with me," he said hopping off the desk and walking out of the classroom.
Lami trailed behind him. And behind him,she started noticing things she normally wouldn't pay attention to. Due to paranoia of course. It's like his back revealed it to her, even with one eye. She looked around the school, seeing lights coming from different directions and how bright the environment actually is.
