Ik, it's a lame quote, don't sue me please!
______
Lami dropped her bag with a huff. Her classmate's staring never annoyed her like it did today. Mostly because today was not a good day for her. She spilled her mother's groundnut oil and after she got a few smacks on the back for her carelessness, her mother also said she's buying oil with her money.
Lami was also annoyed she'll have to talk to Aunty Saude in front of her classmates.
She know the gossip had already circulated the class, the school maybe. Knowing her classmates, the story they came up with is nothing near the truth.
But she was used to it by then, the only thing that would irk her would be if Mustapha was made to look like bad guy.
She wouldn't be able to do anything about it of it does happen, but she would be very angry.
The whole class was buzzing with anticipation, waiting for Aunty Saude to come and scold Lami.
They were disappointed when she did came in but said nothing to Lami. It wasn't until after the school was over that Aunty Saude called Lami.
Lami went over there, noticing that some of her classmates were slowly packing so they could hear what Aunty Saude had to say. Some even stood by the door, listening.
"Hurry up and leave the class," Aunty Saude instructed the kids and patiently waited for them to leave the classroom.
"I have talked to the Principal and he confirmed that he did instructed Mustapha to through your school work and to teach you some things he knows," Aunty Saude said looking at Lami.
Lami nodded, realizing that she was supposed to answer.
"Now while I'm not against him teaching you,I still don't want you two to isolate yourselves. Its not right! I want you to be studying in the library where the librarian would keep a close eye on you. Understand?" Aunty Saude said.
Lami nodded again.
"You may go now. Does nothing but just nod like some lizard," Aunty Saude muttered the last sentence under her breath.
Lami heard her though.
When she went out she saw Rahama and Maryam crouching under the windows, eavesdropping.
"I wished she had flogged you and got you expelled,it's obvious you do more than studying in that class," Rahama said before turning around and walking away. Maryam shot her a distasteful glance before scurrying after Rahama.
Seeing no reason to be upset over such petty things said to her,she made her way to the library.
