Lami didn't know what she was looking at,it was blue, it was shiny, like metal. Then again , she wasn't sure if her eyes were opened or closed. Was she dreaming? Where was she? Maybe she fell asleep in her Umma's room again.Innalillahi wa'inna ilaihi raji'un!
Who said that?
A sound escaped her throat, that was when she realized the pain she was in.
"Are you okay?! I'll get you to the hospital right now!" The person said again. Whoever it was, they sounded scared. Before Lami could ponder on who it was she felt hands on her body and she was shifted in position. The movement made the pain to intensify so much that her vision blackened and she didn't know what happened after.

She was confused when she opened her eyes, everywhere was white. She didn't know where she was. Was she kidnapped? Sold? Was her body parts taken away? Was that why her head was bandaged?
When the door opened later, she was still crying. A woman in white uniform stepped in.
"Oh! You're awake! Are you hurting right now?!" She said alarmed.
"What and what did they...did they take? My eyes? I feel pain in both but I can s-see. My ears? My hair? I'm I going to die?"
The nurse gaped at the girl. "Did someone gave her too much anesthesia?" She wondered out loud.
"Look, calm down. You're okay, a bit concussed though. You were hit by a car, but you were lucky he managed to decelerate before heating you. The impact would've been worse." She kept quiet when she noticed Lami's eyes were glazed, she was probably in pain.
"Right, I'll check your vitals, then I'll make some calls." Lami didn't even look like she heard, tears were still streaming down her cheeks.

"When do I go home?" Lami interrupted Musa.Musa was the man that ran into her with his car. He and his wife were traveling to her parents' house when that accident happened. His wife came only once, after that she didn't come again. Musa told Lami that she felt extremely guilty about the accident that she couldn't face Lami again.
"We have a kid the same age as you. I think she's imagining it happening to her, it's too much for her." Lami didn't care though, she wanted her mother.
"Oh, I was actually thinking of calling them after you're feeling better. I can imagine their panic when you disappear for five days." He handed her the phone and asked her to dial the number.
Lami was fortunate enough to have memorised her mother's number and she dialed her mother's number and waited for it to ring.
"Hello,Umma!" She cried when Sadiya picked up.
"Innalillahi wa'inna ilaihi raji'un! Lami! Lami where are you?! Are you okay?!" Sadiya was as frantic as a mother who lost a child.
"Mama I was hit by a car!"
"Na shiga uku! Mota fa kika ce Lami?!"
"Yes, but the man took me to a hospital and he wants to talk to you." Lami replied to her.
"Give the phone to him right now!" Sadiya raged. Lami knew that tone and she immediately felt sorry for Musa.

After Sadiya yelled at Musa for some time, she demanded that he gives the address of the hospital. The hospital was private and was a bit far from the town, so they had to wait for the next day in order to come.Sadiya's reunion with Lami was a teary one, even Mallam Ali's eyes were glossy when he watched the scene.
Musa started to apologise profusely before Sadiya descended on him.
"It's okay if you want to take any legal actions, but I honestly don't want to trouble you. I'll pay anything you need of me and more. I'm the one at fault here." Musa seriously said, keeping eye contact with Mallam Ali.
"We don't intend on taking any legal actions. Her injuries aren't very serious. And you've paid for all the medical expenses, we couiask for more. You've already taken responsibility." Sadiya spoke before Mallam Ali did.
"No,I feel like i haven't done anything at all. I haven't told you before, but I have a child her age and at the moment, I'm just imagine Islam in place of Lami right now and it's already unbearable to me. I can't imagine how you must feel right now." Musa reasoned.
"It's okay with us. You've already brought her to the hospital and she received medical attention, you also paid for her meals within her stay here. We can only pray that it never happens again." Mallam Ali spoke.
"I am more than grateful for your mercy then." Musa thanked them.

When Lami was discharged from the hospital, Musa called Sadiya aside and gave her a sum of N200k for compensation. Sadiya argued, since there wasn't much damage.Lami's thighs were swollen because that was where she was hit,she was concussed when she felt head-first into the ground and she had to have a stitch on her temple. All the rest of her injuries are minor bruises from falling.
"So I don't see any reason why you should give this to us." Sadiya concluded.
"No, I'm giving you this in case. I might not be available after you leave, so I'll feel better if you take this with you."
In the end, it was Mallam Ali that took the money and they left the hospital. The N200k could be the solution to most of their problems, the answers to their prayers.
