McKinley's POV
He held my hand, leading me up to my own apartment. I honestly have no idea how it happened. I thought I told him I couldn't do this, and yet, he managed to convince me otherwise after my shift ended.
He stopped to let me unlock the door, then didn't hesitate to pull me inside once the door was opened. Someone was eager.
We bypassed the light switch. I knew I didn't need to see him, and he seemed too busy trying to suck my face off to care about the lack of light in here.
I didn't know where Ben was, but I was kinda glad he wasn't here to see this. We weren't even trying to get into my room and he definitely wasn't trying to be quiet.
I found myself pressed up against the wall, hanging onto AJ with both arms around his neck and my right leg lifted up onto his hip. He had one hand supporting my leg and the other cupping my ass. I would have found that position extremely sexy, had it been with anyone but him.
Suddenly the front door opened and the light switched on, blinding me for a second. AJ dropped me, obviously startled. I wasn't expecting to be dropped, so I slid right down to the floor, the whole time staring at Ben's horrified expression.
"I'm uh... I'm gonna go," AJ sputtered out, looking down at his feet.
No one else said anything as AJ slipped out the door Ben was still holding open. Ben waited until AJ had started going down the stairs before shutting and locking the door.
"Well that was interesting," Ben said. "Didn't mean to be a cockblock or anything."
I shook my head. "I'm actually really grateful you came in when you did. I apparently couldn't say no to him. So you just saved me another night of really bad sex. Thank you."
"How hard is it to say no?"
I sighed, standing up. "I actually had to lie. I told him I was seeing someone - which means you really gotta get on that now - and he came back after my shift was over anyway. I had forgotten I let the little lie slip because it was the end of my shift. Next thing I know..." I pointed at the wall I had been pressed up against only moments ago. "We were here."
Ben shook his head. "At least I didn't come back two minutes later. I really wouldn't have wanted to see that."
I scoffed, heading over to the kitchen. I needed food. "Yeah, me either. Where were you, anyway?"
"Out with Jenna."
He didn't say anything else, so I turned to look at him. He was still standing over by the door with a little grin on his face. I haven't seen him with that look in years. "You like her, don't you?"
"Oh yeah. She's, like, perfect."
I smiled. It was good to see him happy. I had to remember to thank Kenz later for helping.
"Which means..." I sang, grabbing a bag of chips and pulling it open. "You gotta step up your game. Find me a guy just as perfect as Jenna is for you. Then we're both happy and I can finally get AJ off my back."
Ben stood in the doorway to the kitchen, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed in front of his chest. "What are you planning on doing? Showcase this new boyfriend of yours in front of AJ to solidify your lie?"
I made a face at him. When he said it like that, it sounded kind of bad. "He doesn't have to know it was a lie."
"Then he'll just think you're a cheater."
I sighed. "Damn." I wasn't a cheater, not by a long shot. I've been cheated on one too many times to ever consider doing that to someone else.
"You know, I might have found someone for you."
I dropped the bag of chips, not caring that some spilled out on the floor. "Really? Who is he? What's he like? Does he play an instrument? Is he hot?"
"Dude, chill. I'm not answering all those questions. And stop making a mess."
I sighed dramatically as I bent down to pick up my chips before proceeding to shove them in my mouth. Five second rule, right?
Thankfully Ben ignored my weird habits and went on talking. "His name is Tyler Vallette. He's a friend of one of my coworkers."
I stood up slowly. "And his musical ability is...?"
"I didn't ask."
I threw the chip bag onto the counter, making more of a mess. "Dammit, Ben. You know I need him to be able to play something or it's a deal breaker. You have to find out for me."
Instead of answering, Ben pulled out his phone and started scrolling through it. Fine. He can just ignore me. It's fine. Not like I found him an amazing girlfriend that is exactly what he was looking for or anything.
I turned to clean up my chips - again. I only managed to pick up a few before Ben was shoving his phone in my face.
"That's a picture of Tyler. You can't tell me you're going to say no to that just because you don't know something about him."
Okay, maybe Ben was right. That boy was super fine. I snatched the phone out of Ben's hand, zooming in on Tyler's face. He had nice silky-looking black hair and a sexy chiseled jaw line. I could definitely imagine this boy doing some naughty things to me.
I handed the phone back to Ben, feigning disinterest. "Eh. He's alright."
"Yeah... those pants don't hide anything. Why am I even friends with you? You're disgusting."
I glanced down to realize there was a very obvious tent in my pants. I grabbed the bag of chips and covered myself with it while I tried to will it to go down on its own. "Okay, fine. Yes, he's hot. I'm a male, and so are you, which means you know how little control I have over my mini me. Especially because someone happened to cockblock me tonight. Don't hate."
"You didn't even want AJ."
"So?"
"Go on a date with Tyler."
"Find out if he plays an instrument."
"How about you go on this date and get to know him yourself like a normal person?"
I smirked. "Since when am I normal?"
Ben shook his head. "You doing anything tomorrow night?"
I thought for a second. Tomorrow was Saturday. I didn't have work. I was a single loser with very little friends... "Nope. Nothing planned."
"Great. Now you have a date with Tyler. He already knows."
My breath caught in my throat. This was actually going to happen, wasn't it? I never expected Ben to uphold his end of the deal. Now as long as I find out this hot Tyler fellow was musically talented, I'll be the happiest man on Earth.
