To Late

It had been two weeks since Harleen who was now known to the public as 'Harley Quinn, muse to The Joker' she was now one of the most wanted within the city because of her connection to him. Sadly Natasha was to far gone by the time Kara got her to Lena's lab, she died not long after and her funeral had been and gone. Written up as one of the most tragic events within the city's history. Kara and Diana had spent the last two weeks fighting the criminal population in an effort to try and locate Harley and The Joker, but it was no good no one seemed to know anything about the two of them. 

Lena sat in her lab, how could she have been so stupid to allow this to happen? She knew from the very start that what these girls wanted to do was far to dangerous and far to stupid to end in anything that wasn't total destruction. But yet again she had let Kara convince her otherwise, and now look at where they were. She had to shut this down, she had no other choice. Lena was beginning to fail some of her classes because of the amount of stress she was under coupled with the lack of sleep she was able to get, seeing as all of the groups vigilante action seemed to happen at night. All of this seemed to have no effect on Diana or Kara's body however, it must be because of their powers. 

The brunette had called a meeting in what she had once called the 'den' but it was about to be turned back into a simple spare room at the back of her lab, after this meeting. She had a feeling that Diana and Kara would fight against her decision, and maybe even try and continue their Superhero antics without her help. But without Lena's technical, hacking, and science skills they would have no idea where to start hunting down criminals or finding out who was really in control of the criminal gangs in the city. 

Lena heard the thump of footsteps coming down the stairs of the den which only meant that Diana and Kara had finally arrived, the appeared around the corner, both of them wearing the Super Suits that Lena had designed for them, not that long ago, although it felt like a life time ago. When they actually had a team to help save the world, instead of just the three of them. 

"Who's the target this time Luthor" Diana said through gritted teeth, she was still angry after the death of Natasha, who she had grown rather close to in the couple of days before she was brutally murdered by one of their own. Lena sighed heavily, the only monitor that was switched on was the television, which currently was playing the Catco news Chanel, which was muted at this point in time.  

"No one" Lena said simple, which caused they two other women to furrow their eyebrows in confusion. "This group has to come to end before anyone else gets hurt, I thought that just maybe we could help to fix this city, but with Natasha gone and Harley now someone that we have to fight against" Lena paused averting her eyes away from the two women who were staring right at her. "This can't continue. Its over. Im sorry" Lena apologised, she gauged the reactions of the other two women with caution. Diana's eyes were piercing with anger as she gritted her teeth, her fists tensing slightly. 

"You can't just give up Lena, don't you get that all this just means that the city needs us more than ever. If we don't protect the people then who will?" Kara said forcefully, trying desperately for Lena to come to her senses, Lena just shook her head in disagreement. 

"The Police, the authorities are quite capable of protecting the people of this city, look we're college kids not the saviours of this world!" Lena snapped back, when were these two going to stop living in fantasy land and finally grow up. Just as Diana was about to argue back with the Luthor, her eyes went wide, along with Kara's as they noticed what was currently being reported on the news Chanel. "Im going to have to ask you to-" Lena started, before she was interrupted. 

"Shut up and look!" Diana shouted pointing to the television screen, Lena whipped round, her mouth dropping open in shock when she saw what the news anchors were reporting. She grabbed the remote and turned it up so they could here what exactly was beings said. On the screen was a picture of Diana and Kara in their Superhero costumes, fighting a group of drug dealers, which must have been from the day before. 

"These two women, with what appear to be Supernatural abilities have been given the names of Wonder Woman and Supergirl, maybe this city has not been lost in a whole host of criminal gangs and these Heros can help to restore hope to the people of National City once more." The News Anchor concluded before moving on to her next story. Lena turned the television off before making eye contact with the other two women once more.  

"You were saying" Kara said with a slight challenge in her tone, Diana stood smirking beside her, as Lena rolled her eyes. Of course she had just been flung into this for the long haul.
