generalthe young girl sat in front of the window. her room was cool, so she wore a blanket around her shoulders.
she smiled, reminiscing the night before, when she had told a boy that she loved him after he said it first.
the rain gently tapped on the glass, along with a gust of wind passing by. millie's foot tapped with the rhythm of the music, the song being "feels like summer" by weezer. although it was a rainy, drab day, and it didn't feel like summer at all, millie was still happy.
she wanted to see finn, but she thought it would be best to stay home.
millie reached for the mug that sat on the windowsill, wanting a sip of the black coffee that sloshed inside. it burned, but eventually evened out and felt relaxing.
it was all calm and peaceful.
until her mother opened the door, not bothering to politely knock.
"millie, living room, now." she said urgently.
millie's immediate reaction was fright. talks with her parents never went well. either something was thrown at someone, or millie was grounded.
she stood up, mentally preparing herself for this. ever since she lost most contact and similarity with her parents, the uncommon conversations they had were very unpleasant.
her legs took her to the living room, which smelled strongly of liquor and cigarettes. her heart dropped at the sight before her. it was only both of her parents, but they had stern looks on their faces.
she slowly took a seat on the loveseat, repeating what she'd say in her head.
"what's this about?" millie asked curiously. she was sweating excessively. her parents never wanted to talk to her, so she was truly scared.
"millie, we have important news to tell you." millie's mother said.
millie furrowed her eyebrows.
she wasn't in trouble? huh.
"uh, okay. go on." millie said. she was now intrigued, because her parents lives were very tedious, and it was rare that there would be anything exciting. but, this information wasn't exciting.
"well, millie, we want to build the connection between this family before you move away. we don't have a lot of time before you move away and go to college." millie's father started, "so, we are planning to move to seattle, washington."
millie stared at them. she couldn't move, she felt frozen.
"wh-what? why? i like it here, no, i love it here. i have friends... a boyfriend too, i cannot move." millie said, but regretted it quickly.
her parents looked at her with shock.
"why did we not hear of this boyfriend? are you having sex? millie bobby brown!" millie's mother exclaimed unhappily.
"no mom! it's not like that!" millie said.
"does he love you?" her father asked.
"yes, dad, and i love him back." millie breathed out.
"well, we're sorry, but we already bought our new home in seattle." millie's mother said.
that's when tears started flowing. millie wept over the fact that she would lose her best friend and boyfriend.
"i-i-i gotta go, i'll b-be back soon."
