millie"sads, wanna hang out somewhere?" i asked sadie over the phone. we hadn't seen eachother for a while, and i was dying to tell her about my life for the past few days.
i saw cars pass as i sat on my front porch, watching the heavy droplets of rain descend to the ground. others may dislike this kind of weather, but i loved it.
"yes! mills, where have you been the past few days? i miss you so much." sadie squealed into the phone, displaying her eagerness to talk.
i was hoping that she wouldn't judge me. it's not every day that people suddenly adore the person they hated for years. maybe, just maybe she'll be okay with it, and not jump to any irrational conclusions.
"i've been... busy." i told her, hesitating to explain on the phone, and not in person. i needed to tell her everything, in real life, and not behind a phone. to be completely satisfied with her opinion, i had to see her reaction for myself.
"busy? doing what? millie, i worry about you, hun." sadie said with a stern feeling to her voice.
she knew that i had no other friends, so what she believed i was doing, i have no idea.
but, she trusted me for some reason. she trusted me not to do anything moronic or completely insane, so if she wasn't too freaked out, i knew i could trust her.
"stuff. look, we have got to meet somewhere, any ideas?" i asked the redhead. i had no idea where we could go to be alone to talk.
she gave no worded response, only a slight hum to signal that she was thinking.
"oh! how about the small cafe on the edge of town?" sadie asked, having a new excitement run through her voice.
fuck.
"uh, yeah. see you there in twenty minutes?" i said.
"yep, see ya then."
-
as soon as i saw him walk into the café, my heart stopped beating. i had no idea if it was out of fear, anxiety, or both.
i stood up to see him.
his eyes found mine, and my eyes found his. his mouth opened a little bit, in shock, it seemed. i blinked, not expecting to see him there.
under his stare, i couldn't move. it was like he was mentally holding my feet to the floor. i wanted so badly to leave, but i knew i would regret it.
so i stood there. we stood there. it seemed like only seconds, but to the other people in the café, it was probably three minutes.
when he finally walked over to me, my heart started beating again, but this time, faster that normal. it felt like i was going to overheat and explode right there on the spot.
he never broke our continuous gaze as he walked over to me quickly.
before i could say anything, he placed his lips upon mine and both of his hands on my waist. i was startled at first, but i soon melted into the soft kiss and placed my hands on his shoulders.
we both pulled away, but we let the kiss linger.
i opened my eyes to see him do the same. my heart fluttered when i looked directly into his chocolate eyes, my cheeks surely turning pink.
"i missed you. why were you avoiding me?" he said as he led us back to the corner of the shop where i previously sat, and we took a seat right next to eachother on a small couch.
