Eirlys/Lord Astor                {Eirlys' thoughts}

------------------------------------------------

"Eirlys, you are blocking my view."

"There is a window on your side, my lord."

"But the scenery is different.

 Eirlys, don't act like you haven't seen the country before."

"It's not often I get to go on a trip."

{I realize I was mumbling and complaining. I stop myself. Lord Astor is my employer, not my friend and definitely not someone I can pout and rant to.}

"Haven't I brought you out to watch plays?

You ungrateful brat."

{He has, plays, operas and ballet performances. When I was small, he even brought me to candy shops. I am so much luckier than many other orphans.}

"I will forever be grateful, my lord."

{That's why I can never leave him alone on his road of revenge (and villainy). Upon hearing my words, he pats my head, somewhat like patting a cat for comfort.}

"My lord, are you sure we can get through Felicity's web of luck?"

"You don't trust me?"

"You are the only one I trust, my lord."

"Such sweet words.

At least there is someone who trusts me."

"King Leonard trusts you."

"With conditions.

Even if you don't trust me, you can trust my power.

Everything has a loop hole. And hers is that she thinks she has to keep the enemies away.

 We aren't her enemies.

We are just two people travelling to the mountain villa for a holiday.

Her luck has no reason to stop us until we change our mind and mean her harm."

{Astor's words has power when he wills it. He can compel people with his words. So when he said we were simply going on a holiday, we are compelled to think like that. The plan now is to come as close to Prince Lucien as possible.}

"Will we be able to arrive in time?"

"What is the town closest to the mountains famous for?"

"Hot spring. It is a famous place for tourists."

"So you get your answer.

We'll be there in time."

"Huh.

You mean they will be spending time in town, relaxing before going into the mountain?"

"Why not?

They need to get supplies and no one in their right mind will go into the mountains tired and injured."

"They're not in their right mind!

They are being tailed, yet Prince Lucien fell in love with a girl he has just met.

Come to think of it, they have only known each other for less than a week!"

"More reasons to believe that they will spend time in town.

Lucien needs time to properly court his farm girl.

And that farm girl is even less well traveled than you."

"Are you insulting me, my lord?"

"I am only stating the truth."

"My lord, do you wish to deal with the paper work while we are traveling?"

"Have you ever heard of working while supposedly going on a holiday?"

"I am working."

"I grant you a holiday."

"So what is my reason for travelling with you if I am not working?

It's improper."

{With an evil glint in his eyes, Astor's mouth quirks up.}

"Whatever you think is proper, my dear Eirlys."
