"It seems like that farm girl possesses some unusual power."
A dialogue story between Eirlys, a cool girl sidekick, and the evil...
"Yes. I'll try my best to... mingle and gossip with the ladies in the tea party. No guarantee though."
{I am met with silence. I take a peek at Master... no Lord Astor. He looks at me in his new favorite expression, cold, unfeeling and distant. That small fleck of warmth was long gone, hidden behind walls of ice. Eirlys... Stop being weak. You have decided to help him!}
"I will mingle with them and start the gossip you want me to."
"Brook will bring you there."
"My lord, it's nearly three. Let me serve you tea first."
{The corner of his mouth begins to quirk up, but before a smile is formed, the mask slips back. An emotionless Lord Astor stares back at me.}
"Stop trying to delay the inevitable, Eirlys."
{He sees through that in an instant. Among all my strengths, being a good spy isn't one of them. That's why I'm reluctant to go.}
"Yes, my lord. I'll leave at this instant.
{I curtsy, draw in a breath and proceeds to march to face my impossible mission. I am about to open the door when I feel someone is standing behind me. When has Lord Astor left his chair? Why didn't I hear him following me?}
"My lord, is..."
{A brief gentle stroke across my cheek and then he walks out of the study.}
"You'll be fine, Eirlys. Cook is planning to make apple pie for dessert."
{Compulsion... He knows I am nervous. I won't let him down. This is step one of his revenge plan and I won't allow it to go down in drains. I won't. And it seems I am going to have apple pie for dessert, so I definitely cannot fail.}

I'll reveal the cover for my upcoming story here! It's a companion story, so Eirlys and Lord Astor will appear in my upcoming story! I plan to post the first chapter on Friday, but with the ranking system undergoing revamp, I am thinking if it will be suitable time.
