Things have pretty much quieted down for Jared, Mari, and Nadia. Day by day they were getting stronger and better with their parts of the Legend and Lieutenant Ross was growing the slightest bit closer to the three. Every time Nadia would smile because she figured out a smarter way to use her illusion magic, Ross would smile as well. Whenever Mari was having trouble with some classes, instead of doing Legend training, Ross would take Mari aside and help her through it. And then there was Jared. Ross couldn’t help but notice just how hard he was working to perfect his Freedom Magic. He constantly tried out different spells and tried to figure out ways to improve it. It made Ross feel a bit proud that she was able to teach such wonderful students.

“Alright now, keep together and do not touch anything.” Ms. Fells ordered her students for the fourth time since they entered the North Central Library of Records. Today Ms. Fells was determined to show her students the beauty of the past and how exciting the history was. The best way she thought of doing so was to try to make it as exciting as possible.

“It’s so dusty here!” a student sneezed.

“It is not so stop complaining.” Ms. Fells gave the kid a small whack on the back of the head.

“Sorry.” He mumbled.

“Now, can anyone tell me what this is?” She pointed to a painting of an old man. He wore a tired long white beard and he was very lax, to anyone else, he seemed someone harmless.

But Jared recognized him.

“The Founder.” He spoke up. “He discovered Trajare as well as this school; though he disappeared four years after it was founded.”

“Very good Jared; looks like someone does his homework.” She winked.

“Not really, he just comes up a lot whenever I read.” Jared shrugged.

“Kiss-ass.” Someone coughed. Jared smirked slightly as he heard that same kid fall on his face.

Dumb-ass. Learn to detect magic. Jared laughed to himself. Ms. Fells caught the smirk and laugh.

“Let’s move on.” Ms. Fells moved everyone along but stopped Jared momentarily. “Jared, while it’s nice to be able to use magic a bit more advance then others, there’s a time and place for everything.”

“Advance? I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Jared shrugged and caught up to his classmates.

“He needs someone to straighten him out.” Ms. Fells shook her head.

Jared looked around to get a better feel for where they were because he had never been to this library before. The place reminded him a lot of the room where he, Nadia, and Mari found the Legend. The Library was a bit dark and dank and felt a bit chilly. Ms. Fells had explained it was to keep some of the more fragile artifacts and documents in tack. The shelves were filled with glass cases that kept items that ranged from spell books to swords to what appeared to be a shoe. There were also tables scattered throughout the place randomly covered with books. Every once in a while, Jared had to step over a book that had fallen off from its pile.

To Jared, it felt like they were being led deeper and deeper into a labyrinth. Every other step he half expected a trap to activate and skewer him. When Ms. Fells finally stopped their class, Jared was just about done with the place.

“How much longer are we—” He stopped what he was saying as he stared at the tall glass case before them. His eyes went wide and he shoved his way to the front, ignoring the grunts and curses from this classmates. When he finally reached the front, all he could do was look.
