“Front and center cadets.” Lieutenant Ross shouted at her students. It’s been three months since Jared attacked Ridden and got suspended. Three months since Lieutenant Ross took over the class and three months since people started calling Jared the Man on Campus.

“She’s so much better than Ridden.” A guy next to Jared whispered to his buddy.

They’re all so cute, thinking Ross is an easy teacher. Jared thought to Nadia. I’m still sore from her training yesterday.

Well they don’t have a Legend in their hands now do they? Nadia thought back.

Suppose so. Jared shrugged.

“Dixen!” Lieutenant Ross shouted at him.

How the hell does she know? Jared asked.

She’s been with us for about five months now, she should know when we’re using our telepathy. Nadia giggle.

“Front and center Dixen.” Lieutenant Ross order. Jared walked to the front of the class. “Stand at attention and face the class!” Jared turned around, squared his shoulders, straightened his back and placed his fist on the center of his chest.

“Ma’am!” He shouted.

“This,” She pointed at Jared, “Is what I want when I call you to attention from now on. You never know when the war will reach you and you’ll pulled into the cause. The more you know now the better.” She glanced at Jared who had been keeping a hard, straight face she since called him out. “At ease.”

“Ma’am!” He separated his feet and placed both hands behind his back, keeping the serious face on.

“Fall in line Dixen.” Jared jogged back his spot and stood at attention with everyone else.

“Today we run drills. Move out!” Every student saluted her and did as they were told.

“So apparently we have a face we make when we’re using our telepathy enchantment.” Jared casually mentioned to Mari as he and her walked to Nadia’s dorm.

“Lieutenant Ross?” Mari instantly knew.

“Was talking with Nadia and she called me out. Made me demonstrate the perfect ‘stand at attention’ form or something.” Jared shrugged.

“She’s just showing you off.” Mari teased.

“Nadia!” Jared knocked on her door. “Let’s head out.”

“C-Coming!” She called.

“Please, if she has anyone to show off it’s you.” Jared added. The two had made up around the time Lieutenant Ross took over for Ridden. Mari had stormed the Headmaster’s office and demanded that Jared’s suspension should be lifted, though her efforts failed, Jared heard her loud and clear and let bygones be bygones. However, he still can’t find it in his heart to forgive her.

“Well, I am a Rank Four, and I am extremely close to becoming a Rank Five.” She bragged for the ten thousandth time that month.

“Yeah, well, whatever.” Jared slumped his shoulders and looked away. She had hit a nerve.

“Jar…” Mari was cut as Nadia came out of the room.

“S-Sorry, let’s head out.” Nadia lead the way out of the dorm. The three of them were walking and talking just as they had been before the Ranked Exams and before Jared’s suspension. They were acting as if nothing had happen and it was great.

“So w-what are Ranked Classes like?” Nadia asked Mari.

“They’re a lot more difficult than I could have ever imagined. If it wasn’t for Lieutenant Ross I’d be falling behind right now.” Mari smiled.
