The nurse’s office was mainly for students who don’t know when to quit. But on that day, the day that Demintrea broke the stalemate and declared war, it became the hub of commotion. The killed and injured were being brought in left and right; other students were trying to get to friends and family members. There just wasn’t enough room. Soon other rooms were being filled with those from the library. In one of those rooms sat Nadia, Jared and Mari; confused and hurt.

“You kids seem to be alright.” The nurse checked them over real quick. “How you three managed to get away with so few injuries, it’s a miracle.” She spoke as she finished bandaging Jared’s head.

“Yeah.” Jared weakly nodded in agreement.

“Alright, I’m clearing you three and sending you back to your dorms. We need the room.” And she left the room.

“Let’s get out of here.” Mari stood and stepped her way over people to get out of there. Jared helped Nadia to her feet and then the two of them quietly followed.

“A-are we going to ask her w-what that was back there?” Nadia asked Jared as they walked through the halls.

“Don’t worry. I will.” Jared looked straight ahead of him at the back of his sister.

“T-that book she h-had. You don’t think…” Nadia trailed off.

“After what just happened, I don’t know what to think right now.” Jared looked over at Nadia to see she wasn’t in the best condition. “I’ll walk you back to your dorm room.” He offered her. She didn’t protest.

Once Nadia got back to her dorm, the first thing she did was open her jacket and take out the book she had stashed in it. The book had reverted back to its dusty camouflage, but it still had some of its green hue. She flopped onto her bed and just stared at it.

If the book Mari had allowed her to break Krilitrox’s Time Stop, could this book do the same? Or were the two not even related? Nadia thought to herself. But after a few minutes of thought, she let her arms flop down to her sides and let sleep take her to wonderful places.

“Mari, how did you do that!?” Jared asked his sister for the thousandth time. They were in Jared’s dorm room and he wasn’t letting Mari leave until she explained exactly what happened.

“Like I said, I opened the stupid book and the next thing I knew, his freaking Time Stop was undone and he had disappeared.” Mari nearly yelled at her brother of the thousandth time. “I felt some weird power flow out from it and I don’t know, something just sort of clicked in my head and I somehow knew what it would take to get rid of that spell…” Mari rattled off.

“So you’re saying a book told you how to beat Krilitrox?” Jared looked at his sister like she had inhaled too much meteor ash.

“No not beat. Un-do.” She strained.

“So you Un-did his spell? Because a book talked to you?” Jared kept on pushing her.

“Look Jared, I don’t know! Your guess is just as good as mine as to what happened in there.”

“Alright, alright.” Jared tried to calm to his sister down. “Okay. Tomorrow we’ll go see the headmaster and…”

“No! We can’t do that.” Mari blurted out.

“And why not?” Jared asked.

“Because there’s only one way that Krilitrox could have gotten through those defenses and that’s if someone from the inside purposely weakened the field.”
