Jessica finally had everything settled in her apartment. She had just gotten done changing her wraps when she heard a knock at the door. She jumped and suddenly looked around. She had to remind herself that she wasn't in war. She slowly opened the door. There were three people. They all looked similar.
"Hi we are your neighbors. On your left is our sister Alex and on your right is my brother and I. I'm Aiden and he is Dominic. Welcome," Aiden greeted. They all smiled.
"I'm Jessica Simons but call me Jess," Jess greeted. Aiden was smiling and so was his sister but Dominic looked like he didn't want to be there.
"Ok well it was nice meeting you. We gotta go," Aiden said. Jessica nodded. She open the door all the way to go downstairs. She needed to go get her mail. The all looked and her bandages. She slid past them and she knew they were focused on her stitches. She acted like she didn't notice as she walked down the stairs. Soon she was downstairs.
"What the hell happened to her?" Dominic asked.
"Maybe we would've found out if you hadn't given off bad vibes. I gotta go call my wife now," Aiden spat before walking off.
"He's not wrong. You probably frightened her," Alex agreed. She walked back into her apartment.
"The hell?" Dominic said slamming the door to his and his brother apartment.
Jessica ran back up the stairs. She got in her apartment and looked out the window. This was a cheap apartment so there was only one bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and a living room. Not to mention they had thin walls. She could her Aiden talking to someone. She felt one of her attacks coming on. Certain things would trigger thoughts which would make her start panicking.
"Not here. Not now. Not anymore," she started to yell. She grabbed her head and squeezed. She didn't even realize when her door opened.
"I'm not there anymore. Leave me alone I'm not there anymore!" She screamed clenching her eyes shut. She couldn't get the thoughts of her men dying out of her head. She heard a doorstep and she instantly reach for her gun. After realizing it wasn't the she started looking for her kitchen knives. She spotted them.
"Woah woah woah. Relax I heard you screaming and came to see what was wrong," Dominic explained. She whipped around to see him standing with his hands out.
"Damn it you should've been louder so I wouldn't have tried to kill you," Jess exclaimed.
"Like you could me. I'm a commanding officer what are you? A radio girl," Dominic taunted.
"Radio people are very useful. They get you where you need to be and can request help," Jessica informed. He laughed.
"Also for your anwser no I'm not a radio girl," Jessica continued.
"Then what are you?" He questioned.
"I'll let you find out on your own," she replied.
"Whatever. Screaming at yourself doesn't work," he said. Jess rolled her eyes. What else could she do? She looked at the time. She was late for her doctors appointment.
"Shit!" She yelled running out the door.
"I got a doctor's appointment. When you leave lock the door!" She announce running out. She put a lot of trust in this stranger. She had just opened her door after getting home. It was unlocked. Jeez at least he shut the door. She saw the three siblings sitting on the couch and she nearly jumped out of her skin. She almost pulled her gun until she saw the faces.
"You were going to shoot us?" Aiden asked.
"Nah. She's just the radio girl," Dominic joked. She rolled her eyes. She wasn't going to tell him. He have to find out on his own.
"So what are y'all doing?" Jess asked.
"We were hanging out. Where are you from you talk funny," Alex replied.
"I'm from the glorious bipolar state of Ohio," She replied. The all looked around.
"That's where stone cold is from according to sterling," Dominic said. He knew commander sterlings. She hadn't heard of anyone called stone cold but the siblings appeared to know.
"Who's that?" Jess asked.
"It's this person that came back from a tour. The hold the record for most kills and best sniper. Rumors are that it's a girl but no one is for sure. Sterling won't say a thing," he replied. Jessica felt her body shake. She was now giving the nickname of stone cold. Yeah she killed without question but that didn't mean she was stone cold did it? She nodded at what he said. Soon Alex went home followed by Aiden but Dominic seemed determined to piss off Jessica.
"So radio girl, why'd you join?" Dominic asked.
"I'm not a radio girl. I left because there was nothing keeping me back in Ohio," she replied. He laughed.
"So you're a run away. What'd you do? Just pick up and go?" He asked.
"Kinda. My mom kicked me out and I left. They aren't happy with me but oh well," Jessica stated.
"Tell me this. What happened to you? Your all beat up," he inquired.
"I uh well I was shot and then blown up," she simply replied. He shook his head. He got up and started towards the door.
"Ok radio girl. I'm only leaving because I have a meeting tomorrow morning. If you need anything you know where we are," he said walking out. Why was he nice then insulting then nice again. He was becoming annoying. Jessica though the she realized that she had a meeting with sterling tomorrow. Please don't let them be at the same meeting. She got in the shower then she laid out her uniform. Her life was simply military again. She crawled into bed. And looked around her room. This was it now. A lonely apartment with a cocky neighbor that was pretty much bipolar. She fell asleep with the dreams of Afghanistan drifting through her head.
