Anime: Attack On Titan
Pairing: Levihan! (Levi x Hanji)
Historical AU: American Colonies around the time of the Constitutional Convention. Also for historical accuracy Hanji will use female pronouns, as much as it sucks. Never mind, this is probably completely out the window on historical accuracy so, it's a bit more modern but, not too terribly.

Four years earlier:
Hanji Zoë, a strong and independent maiden had just sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, away from her Loyalist parents. Both well respected doctors and surgeons, Hanji had received her education on their behalf, in order to follow their legacy but, when the war broke out, Hanji drew away from her parents, and the King. She had lived under a master in London, England, as a shop clerk until the war was over, then, she set out for The United States of America. She set foot on the Boston Harbor three and a half months later, there, she made her new start. She journeyed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, owning an apothecary shop close to the center of town.

Present day: 1787 Winter

"Witch!" One man shouted at her as she strolled through the bitter Philadelphia cold to the town market. "Freak!" Another shouted. She snorted and walked on, she was used to these kinds of comments, she knew her shop was nothing but, a natural apothecary store, she didn't have a creepy basement to hold wichtes cult gatherings in. Well, she takes that back, she has a creepy basement but, purely for the purpose of stock and storage. She didn't regularly make trips into town because she grew most everything in her large garden but, one thing she couldn't grow was mint leaves, needed for a cough remedie.

"Good morning miss," the shopkeep said, a small and petit, strawberry blonde haired woman, from behind the counter. "Good morning to you too. You wouldn't happen to have any mint leaves in stock?" Hanji asked. "Yes mam, just a moment," she said before stepping back and standing on a rolling ladder and grabbing a prepackaged bag from the fourth shelf. "Thank you," Hanji said. "That will be three pounds and five pence," the woman said cheerily. Hanji dug from her olive green, skirt pocket the amount charged and left the shop with a happy wave and a small smile.

Many called her strange or unconventional but, Hanji considered herself innovative. From owing her own shop, not many women did unless supervised by their husbands, she wasn't married, nor was she being courted but, she was lucky to have a very powerful friend who got her, her own plot of land. To cutting pockets in her skirts like the gentlemen had on their trousers or wearing trousers herself.

She opted to be a bit more traditional when going into town today for example, she let her long, brunet hair down from its usual high ponytail, letting it flow around her shoulders, she opted for wire framed spectacles, rather than her work goggles. She wore a knitted white shawl over her shoulders, with a thick, long sleeved, cotton blouse underneath, a much dreaded corset but, she was crafty enough to have cut the part that cinched her stomach and to only have support for her breasts, attaching straps that went over the shoulders. Beneath that was an olive green skirt that flowed to her ankles with pockets on either side, a single petticoat underneath, with white stockings and a pair of shiny, silver buckled, black shoes. Along with a pair of olive green gloves lined with fluffy wool.

"My apologies Erwin, I had not realized I was out of mint leaves," Hanji said to her best friend and the town official of Philadelphia, Erwin Smith, as she entered the warm shop in escape from the bitter cold winter, hanging her shawl next to Erwin's thick wool lined deep blue coat. "It's quite alright Hanji, anything to get rid of this cough," his deep, commanding voice said before letting out a booming cough. He wore a cotton shirt with a deep navy blue vest, lined with copper buttons over it, a pair of tan cotton trousers and black, silver buckled shoes. "You should have come to see me earlier," Hanji commented mixing together ingredients into a thick syrup.
