No Place Like Home For the Holidays

Holiday fic, duh, the title is self explanatory.

Levi had been away on a year and a half long trip to Paris durring his junior year of college. He missed his sweet Eren dearly and couldn't wait to surprise him and be home for the holidays and his birthday.

Levi had brought Eren back many gifts but, one he was highly nervous about. He only wanted one thing for his birthday or Christmas and it was for Eren to say yes to changing his last name from Jaeger to Ackerman. Levi had never been a terribly sappy person but, when it came to Eren he seemed to be drowning in it. He had gotten him a French engagement ring, accept it wasn't an engagement ring, unless Eren wanted it to be. It was a golden band with his birthstone, aquamarine, beautifully carved and placed into the center with the words, "Je vous remercie," engraved on the inside. Levi had to call his uncle to supply him with more money that he would have liked for Levi to buy Eren the ring.

He stepped out of his black pick up truck up to the front door of the Jaeger's home and pulled a golden key out of his pocket. Levi had been given a key in eigth grade, he may have been shorter but, he had begun building strength in order to protect Eren from bullies. The boys had been friends since before Levi could remember and they had started dating in Levi's junior year of high school.

Kids had bullied Eren because of his two colored eyes. His left one was a beautiful warm mixture of golden honey and light brown flecks. The left was a swirling vortex of sea foam greens and tide blues. Levi couldn't see how anyone could bully someone especially for something so unique and beautiful.

He had stepped quietly into the dark home, it looked a bit diffrent from when he left, new art work was on the wall and most surfaces were decorated with holiday wears and in the corner was a christmas tree decorated with red and gold ornaments with presents underneath. Levi must say, Carla really out did herself this year, with her son's help of course.

Levi slipped past a clock that read, "10:50." It was the twenty third of December. He made his way up the hard wood stairs too the upstairs hallway and next to Eren's door, which pushed open with a quiet creak.

There lay Eren, fast asleep in all his beautiful glory. Warm tan skin contrasting from the dark green sheets and Levi's ghostly pale skin, soft brown hair fell astray across his white pillow and his forehead but, what interested Levi more was, what Eren was wearing. It was one of his old baseball jerseys. It was white and contrasted with his skin, red lettering on the front that read, "Sina High," and on the back that read "Ackerman," it fit loosely around Eren's slim frame.

Underneath were black, tightly fitting, boxer shorts. Levi unconsciously licked his lips but, the sudden memory of the ring in his back pocket weighed down on him. It wasn't an engagement ring, but it was, it wasn't, it wasn't unless Eren said yes.

"Eren, I need you to wake up," Levi whispered in Eren's ear. Eren mumbled and rolled over facing Levi, who loomed over his bed. "L-Levi? Levi? Is it really you?" Eren asked, half asleep. "Yeah brat, it's me," Levi responded. Eren lazily reached towards Levi and made an attempt to drag him into his bed. Levi sat next to him, holding his hand, stroking his knuckles. "I'm glad I'm not dreaming," Eren said, finally awake. "Me too, brat," Levi responded. "Well how was France? Are all the stereotypes true? How was all the architecture and art?" Eren asked ecstatically. "France was amazing the art the food, everything, and yes they're all true," Levi answered. "I knew it," Eren said.

Levi picked up the bag of gifts he had brought back from France and handed it to Eren. His face light up brighter with each gift he opened. "Hey Lee, what's this, this neck thing?" Eren asked, using Levi's nickname. "That's a cravat, doll," Levi said. "I think it'd look nice on you," Eren said, putting it around Levi's neck. "I was right," Eren said with a smile. Levi mustered his best smile and flashed it back at Eren.

"You know, I love it when you smile," Eren said. Levi had come from a hard past, made from a one night stand, mother died of disease, his uncle wasn't the best and it sucked to be stuck with him, he wanted to move and get a house but, he wouldn't do it without Eren, his best friends killed in a car accident, his past had been one of the worst, he chose not to smile but, Eren brought out the best in him, making him smile.

"You know doll, I love everything about you, your eyes, your skin, your laugh, smile, your smart brain and loving, passionate personality," Levi said whilst getting off the bed and grabbing the ring out of his pocket. He got down on one knee and Eren covered his face with his hands. "Eren. I. Uh.. I love you. Will. W. Will you m. Ma. Marry. Me," Levi clumsily stuttered. "Yes!" Eren exclaimed, taking Levi into a huge hug. Levi slipped the ring on his finger and Eren said, "I can feel engraving on the inside, what does it say?" "It says, "Thank you," in French," Levi answered. "You sap," Eren said.

They lay on the bed in silence for a while, Eren admiring his ring. "Hey brat, Merry Christmas," Levi said. "Merry Christmas, happy birthday, Lee," Eren said pulling Levi into a loving kiss.
