Hello everyone!! Welcome to another chapter. Not many more left. We are at the final stretch of the race. But before we get to the end there are a few more things that need to get covered in this book. So without any further delay's lets begin.
This will be another chapter about a fantastic individual and probably the biggest inspiration for me even writing this book to begin with. Honestly, if it wasn't for this person I don't think this book would even exist in the first place. She inspired me to use my voice to write and reignited my passion and love of writing. Let me set the scene so I can tell you more about this individual.
We are in my senior year of high school, my final years before I am released into the real world to become a functioning member of society. My senior year was not bad by any means. The classes were easy for the first semester, and I had a good time meeting new people and making them smile. I was still in band and choir during this point, enjoying myself, the people and the friendships that I had made throughout the first semester. It was after marching season had finally ended around late November, early December. The weather was beginning to change, the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer.
It was around this time of year when the band events started to dwindle but the choir events started to pick up speed. Every year the choir had an outing where they would go caroling at the Peabody Hotel and it was always great fun. Getting to see everyone smile, while we sang always brought joy to my face, but that wasn't even the best part it was the time where I got to hangout with my friends outside of school. Almost all of my friends were there: Kamiya, Sarah, Amber, Jessica, Joey, Caleb, and Angie. While we were outside of school we laughed and smiled, the memories were always joyful. It was just a time of celebration and true friendship, these were some of the best memories that I had during this time in my life. We got to show the world who we really were on the inside, and we got to do what we loved. Anyways, I got a little off topic there.
Every year when we would go to the Peabody the choir director would always bring a few extra people to sing from the intermediate group and see how they would do in the mixed group. If they did well enough, and if she thought they were ready she would put them into the advanced group to sing with us full time. I didn't realize that Ms. Becks recruitment technique would help me to meet another phenomenal individual that would change my life.
Once we arrived at the Peabody Ms. Beck led us into the hotels restaurant where we sat and waited until they were ready for us. I was just hanging out minding my own business, talking with friends and then I saw her out of the corner of my eye. I went over and introduced myself to her because she seemed a little intimidated being in the advanced group for the first time.
"Hi there, My name is Allen. And your name is??"
"Hello Allen, My name is Monica."
"Hello Monica, Welcome to the advanced group."
Monica had brown hair with brown eyes, but the thing that really catches your eye about Monica is her smile. Her smile was like a warm summer day, and just as beautiful as the sunset. Her smile was just warm, inviting and it just made me feel safe. I felt like I could trust her with anything even though I had just met her. From that day forward she continues to amaze me. She is kind, caring, smart, passionate, and very very brave. She never let anything that life threw down in front of her stop her. She loved herself because she understood her self worth, and she would teach me to appreciate myself more. She would show me that it didn't matter what others thought of me or what they said about me, I had to love myself. She continues to inspire me to rise above what others think or say about me, she gives me strength when I need it the most. She is my best-friend.
Monica, I may not have known you for very long, but you are incredible. Your personality shines like a beacon of light in the ever growing darkness. Even though we haven't known each other for very long, I am glad that I met you. You bring out the best in me, and inspired me to start writing in the first place. Without you none of this would be here right now. Never change who you are. You are strong, you are brave, and you will go far in this world. Your smile brightens my day every time I see it. You continue to amaze me. Always remember the times you laughed and smiled at my terrible jokes, I know I will. I'm very proud to be able to call you my best friend, and I will always have your back. Be amazing like I know you can....
This brings us to the end of Ch. 36. That is yet another Chapter down and only a few more left to write before we reach the end of the line. I will see you all in the next one.
