Finding The Way Back to You

Chapter 4- Awake

                                                                                       Kara

I open my eyes to a set of brown eyes. 

"You're awake! Thank goodness," Alex yells. Every little sound intensifies and it doesn't help that I have super hearing. My head is pounding.

"Ow Alex." She puts her hands on her mouth and whispers that she's sorry. I nod but immediately regret it when everything starts spinning.

"Easy Kara. You got beat up pretty badly."

"How long have I been out?" Alex tells me that it's only been 4 hours and I thank Rao. If I had been gone for too long, people would start wondering where I am. 

"How do you feel," Alex asks me.

"Like I got crushed by a planet." Alex starts laughing at that.

"Close. You got crushed by a world killer." Her expression suddenly turns serious.

"Kara, you got really hurt. You could've died." Tears form in her eyes and she looks down at the ground.

"I know Alex. I shouldn't have gone out there without a plan. I just had no idea how strong she was." 

"Yeah but all we have to do is figure out a way to beat her. We always do." I shake my head.

"I don't know that we can this time Alex." 

"I- I'm going to go grab a cup of coffee." She kisses me on the forehead and leaves the room. I lean my head back and close my eyes. How am I going to defeat someone who is so much stronger than me? I hear the chair creak next to me and my eyes fly open. It's just Mon-El.

"Hey. How are you doing?" he asks. 

"I'm fine," I reply trying to hide the fact that my heart starts beating ridiculously fast. Of course, the heart monitor starts going crazy too. I smile shyly and pull off the wires. Why does he still make me feel this way? He's married.

"I'm sorry that I wasn't here when you woke up. I was dealing with Imra."

Dealing with Imra? What happened?" Mon-El shakes his head, signaling the end of where that was headed.

"Look Kara, I need to tell you something. I wasn't going to but when you came in on that stretcher, I feared that you would die without me ever having told you. I-" he's cut off by Lena rushing in, practically dragging John with her.

"Oh my gosh, Kara. Are you okay? John told me what happened." Lena comes over to me and hugs me, making me wince. 

"Sorry. I forgot that you just got beat up by a world killer."

"Um.. how do you know that?" I look over at John, who looks at  the floor guiltily. "You told her? The reason I didn't tell her was to protect her. Now she's stuck in the middle of it."

"It's fine Kara. Really. I'm glad that I know." Against my will, tears form in my eyes.

"I did it to keep you safe. You know that right?" She nods.

"I understand. I just want to know everything for now on, okay? I can't stand the thought of not knowing if you're just on a mission or in a coma."

"Yes, totally. I will tell you everything. But you have to do the same for me."

" Okay. Oh, I should probably tell you that James and I kissed. It won't mean anything if you aren't okay with it."

I laugh. "No, that's great. I'm happy for you Lena. I really am." We hug and continue to talk for about an hour before Alex shows up again, this time with Sam.

"Hey, you must be Sam," I say. Why is she here?

"Oh cut it Kara. I know that you're Supergirl." I look over at Alex who just shrugs. 

"Where's Ruby?" Lena asks. Right after she says that, Ruby comes running in. 

"Supergirl, are you okay?" I nod and my head hurts even more at the thought of how many other people know about me. I'm about to ask who else knows when Cat Grant walks in.

"Ms. Grant. What are you doing here?"

"Really Keirra. You've known me long enough to call me Cat. Also, i've known for a long time that you're Supergirl." Winn walks in and has a very guilty look on his face.

"I'm sorry. I wouldn't have brought her here, but she threatened me." Winn looks up but still has a sad look for some reason.

"Oh calm down Wit. I just said that if he doesn't bring me to you, I was going to make his life a living hell." Cat shrugs like it's no big deal. Knowing Cat though, it would've been bad if he didn't bring her here. 

John walks in and when he sees everybody, he just sighs.

"I should've known that this was going to happen sooner than later." We all laugh and for the next few hours, we stay up chatting. When I start to yawn, Alex makes everybody get out.

Right before I drift off in sleep, I wondered. What did Mon-El want to tell me?
