Alex
When Mon-El and I get on the roof, Supergirl and Reign are trying to stab each other. Supergirl suddenly fly's up and looks toward us. Crap. We distracted her and Reign is able to push her to the ground. I see Supergirl throw her dagger to the ground and is trying to stop Reign's from stabbing her.
"We need to help her,"Mon-El says like it's not obvious. Just as we reach them, Reign stabs Supergirl. I scream and grab her dagger from the ground. I plunge it into Reign, not caring if I killed whoever it is under that mask. She might've killed my sister.
Mon-El rushes over to Kara and yanks the knife out and presses his hands to her wound.
"Check on Reign,"he yells to me. I nod and go over to her. I feel so much hatred to her, but when I see who is under the mask, my heart stops. It's Sam. I can't hate Sam, but I can hate Reign, who is dying this very second. I hear the helicopter land and some medics run over with stretchers. We lift them onto the helicopter and I watch as they fly them to the DEO. I grab Mon-El and we rush off of the roof. We get to the van and I drive so fast, I'm pretty sure I ran over a few trash cans.
We finally reach the DEO in time to see Kara and Sam being wheeled into surgery. After a few painful hours of being debriefed and waiting for Kara and Sam, they are finally out of surgery. I practically run to Kara and I have to restrain myself from squeezing her in a hug.
"Hey Kara," I say quietly, rubbing my hand over her head and kissing her on the forehead. "You did good. You beat Reign. I know it's hard, but I still need you to do what I asked, okay? I need you to live because if you don't, I don't know what I would do." My voice starts cracking.
I put my head down on her arm and cry silently. A hand is on my back, startling me.
"Sorry," Mon-El says, his voice hoarse making it noticeable that he's been crying.
"It's okay. How are you holding up?"
"As best as I can. How about you?"
"She can't die,"I say, my throat thick with tears. "I can't live without her. What am I going to do if she dies?" Mon-El sits down on the other side of Kara.
"It's going to be okay. She's going to be okay," he says. For a couple of hours, we chat and try get Kara to wake up. She doesn't.
Everybody had gathered around her bed, but after a few hours with no sign that she was going to wake up anytime soon, they left. Mon-El and I stayed right by her side though. I was just about to drift off into sleep, when I felt Kara move.
I looked to find her smiling at Mon-El who fell sleep in his chair, his arm on hers and his head tilted back. His mouth is open so wide, I can see the back of his throat.
"Hey Kara," I say. "How are you feeling?" She looks toward me and smiles.
"I'm fine,"she tells me, but I can see the pain in her eyes. "How long have I been out?"
"Only for about 7 hours. Most of that was in surgery though." She nods and leans her head back against the pillow. Suddenly her head shoots up.
"Did you figure out who Reign was?" I nod.
"Yeah. It was Sam."
"What? Oh, the black outs."
"Yeah. She's resting in the next room. You did it Kara. You defeated Reign." Tears well up in Kara's eyes.
"Thank goodness. Have you checked on her?" I shake my head.
"I've been here with you."
"You should go check on her."
"Kara, you just woke up." Why does she want me to leave already?
"I see how you look at her Alex. It's the same way you looked at Maggie."
"But what if she doesn't feel the same way?"
"I can see the way she looks at you too. Now go see her." I give Kara a hug and I walk to Sam's room. She turns her head toward me when I walk in.
"Hey," she whispers.
"Hey. How are you feeling?"
"Not great. I'm so sorry Alex. I had no idea. I should've put two and two together."
"Shh," I put my finger to her lips. "It's okay. I don't blame you. I blame Reign. I know that you would never hurt anyone willingly." She nods and puts her hand over mine.
"Alex, I know that what I did was horrible, so I'm just going to say it because if you hate me, this couldn't make it any worse. I like you. A lot." Oh. She does like me.
"I like you too Sam. I just didn't know if you felt the same way."
"Yeah. I think that I'm falling in love with you. The way that you care for Ruby and still like me even after I stabbed your sister. You never cease to amaze me.
"I think that I'm falling in love with you too. I don't blame you at all. You had no choice in the matter. Now you do. You still have your powers so you can help people if you want to." She looks down.
"I don't know. I mean, all I want for Ruby is a normal life. What if someone tries to hurt her just to get at me? I couldn't live with myself." I breathe a sigh of relief. I would rather not worry about if she's lying in a ditch somewhere dead like I do with Kara.
"That's okay Sam. I understand." I take a deep breath and grab her hand. "I'm going to do something and you can stop me if you don't like it, okay?" She nods, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. I lean forward, pushing the hair out of her face and I kiss her.
