This Thing Called Love

Can you tell me what is love?
Is it giving someone the moon from the sky above?
Is it a feeling everyone can show?
Can you tell me? I really don't know.

I often see couples with that sparkle in their eyes.
There is no need for the moon to brighten the dark blue skies.
Love is an emotion that is filled with compassion.
It bonds two souls together, giving a deep connection.

When you feel love, the world is lost from your eyes.
There is only one you can see and that is the best prize.
You show such compassion when they are consumed in the essence of their gloom.
Like a rose, despite the thorns, such a beauty when it blooms.

You do your best to show them you care.
Despite all, you will always be there.
They are the person you want to spend your life with.
You will go the extra mile, into a dark dungeon or even a bottomless pit.

There is no pretence when they are around.
You even love to share the silence of sound.
They accept you for who you are.
It does not matter if you were left with any scar.

Love sees the beauty in you where you sometimes can't.
From a seed that was sown, emerged into a plant.
Love is the root that holds you together.
Like a ship to an anchor you will remaim forever.

Holding firm through the raging storm,
Piercing through the clouds, a rainbow has formed.
Broken branches, withering leaves,
Like a husband to his wife, he cleaves.

As the moon continues to revolve around the earth,
So will love travel, until there lies a new birth,

Filled with joy, happiness and commitment.

Despite our individuality, we are one.
As we waltz to our song, giving thanks for this bond.

Now I know what love could be,
I hope it will be as sweet for me.
Now I will continue to wait,
Until the good Lord excort this love unto my gate.
