"Destiny, if you don't leave now, the store will be closed by the time you get there." Nona pounded on the door.
I opened my door to face her. She stood in the hallway with a hand raised. Her black hair was braided on the sides of her head and she was wearing her pink glasses.
"Oh. You're ready." She said with a drawn face. I knew she wanted to break down my door and I was glad I stepped out when I did.
"I'm sorry that my five minutes was too long for you." I said.
She rolled her eyes. "Five minutes is a lot of time for you. You can't get that back."
I walked down the steps and peeked in the living room. Morta was running on the treadmill, sweat dripping down her face. She nodded when she saw me but never stopped going. All of the girls looked gorgeous. They were thin with shiny hair and great skin. They didn't need to watch their weight or what they consumed.
But that wasn't me. I couldn't eat ice cream whenever I wanted like Nona. I had to work out twice as hard as Morta to look half as good as she did. My hair wasn't shiny, I always had a pimple sprouting on my face, and I needed glasses to see, unlike Nona.
Nona grabbed my hand and walked with me to the door. "Please don't forget the ice cream."
"How could I? You've reminded me every hour."
She hugged me. "Thank you, Des."
I grabbed my purse and opened the door. Decuma stood in the doorway, her eyes blazing gold. She was as still as a statue and her lips were parted.
Nona and Morta were by my sides in seconds. They grabbed Decuma and pulled her into the house.
I shut the door and ran after the girls into the living room. They set Decuma on the couch and dropped down beside her.
"What are you seeing, D?" Nona asked.
Decuma said nothing. Her eyes stared blankly ahead with no recognition of us.
"Decuma, talk to us."
I sat down across from her and ran my sweaty palms on my jeans. I hated seeing any of the three stuck in a vision. They had no control of themselves and couldn't stop them from coming. They happened at the most inconvenient times.
Her eyes shifted back to normal and she focused on me. "Destiny."
My eyes widened. Crap. What had she seen?
"D, what did you see?" Nona asked, squeezing her hand.
"I saw... I saw you."
"What about me?"
"There... there was a boy. He's trouble."
"A boy?" I asked. I knew plenty of boys but none that could be interesting enough to cause a vision.
"What kind of trouble?" Morta asked.
"I saw you with a boy. Tomorrow."
"I don't have any plans tomorrow."
"The ice cream."
I glanced at Nona and she lowered her gaze.
Decuma stood up and started pacing. "There's something not right about this. I wouldn't have seen a vision on Des running in to some guy on the street."
"Should I just let it happen? Or should I stay inside all day and avoid him?"
"God must be pairing the two of you. Don't let my vision get in the way of your love life."
I exhaled. Was I really going to be falling in love? I saw the Fates at work all the time. I never thought I'd see the day where they would set me up with someone.
Morta moved beside me and wrapped an arm over my shoulders. "This is a good thing, Des."
"Do you know what time it happens tomorrow?"
Decuma sat down on my other side. "Around noon? I didn't see a time but the sun was high in the sky."
"What should I do now?"
"You need to get ready for tomorrow. You have a date with destiny."
