life and death au

When Chase and Just found Sean, the child was being treated poorly at home, miserable and abused. Chase admitted that he had seen them more than once during his time of work, so close to death but not close enough to succumb.

They took pity on this particular child. Chase and Just's  relationship was still hidden, so Just was the one to approach them, offering a better life of immortality with him. Sean was quick to accept, knowing that escaping their current life would be the greatest option.

So Just spent some time with Sean, getting to know them. Eventually, he introduced them to Chase, informing them that he was Death, that Just loved him very much, but that had to be kept secret.

So Sean was granted immortality, despite the extreme disagreement from the other heavenly bodies. They claimed it was too dangerous, that this mortal may not have the control to play such a large role. But Just didn't listen, knowing that Sean deserved this and that nothing could go wrong.

Skip to a few years later. Sean would be seventeen at this point.

Here's the problem. When a person is chosen to play a role in the universe and become immortal, they have to be prepared and warned of what has yet to come. They need to be trained to subdue and control their power. Due to Just and Chase's giant daily roles in the world, they had no time to train Sean, and none of the other bodies could do it, either. For those five years leading up to Sean turning seventeen, thoughts of unlimited power and control were pushed into the back of their mind until everything was unleashed. They disappeared without a trace until, one day, Chase and Just were able to track their location and travel there to attempt to stop him.
