"I'm still not convinced this will work." Fenris argued.
"Look, if they did anything to Wyll, there will be hell to pay. And besides, I'll be keeping an eye on you. If things get questionable I'll swoop in and cause a distraction." Ever replied.
"I'm the least liked out of the royalty, you know that right?"
Ever rolled her eyes. "Yes, which is why you have that." Ever motioned to the small metal ball in Fenris's hand. She had sent Fenris to her room to try and get it for her, thankfully that part of the plan went smoothly.
"Remind me what good this does?"
"It's filled with Basil and Bay Leaf. It's the most basic type of social charms. It should work, I don't think I've lost my touch."
"Why did you bring this stuff with you?" Fenris questioned.
"Just in case." Ever shrugged. She took a deep breath before pushing Fenris out of the small room they had been discussing the plan in. "I believe in you." She added with a smile, before closing the door behind him.
Ever slid down against the wall and held the crystal of her necklace in her hand.
"So, do you think this will actually work?" Hex questioned.
"I don't know. I'm hoping. What other options do I have?" Ever sighed.
"You could always run in there-"
"And what? I don't know what the artifact looks like. This will at least give me some insight. Once I know what I'm looking for, then it'll be easier to obtain it." Ever reassured herself.
The crystal in her hand lit up with a brilliant blue.
"Perfect." Ever smiled. She used the same spell as before but changed it in order to look through Fenris's eyes.
"Why didn't you just use the spell from earlier?" Hex asked.
"I can't hold that spell very long, it's easier to have a vessel to look through."
So far everything was going according to plan. Everyone had welcomed Fenris into the room. She could see Wyll out of the corner of her vision- No. Now wasn't the time for distractions, she needed to get to the bottom of this.
"What if I gave you a hint?" Hex asked, filling the silence half an hour later.
"A hint about what?"
"What you're looking for." Hex replied.
"You mean you know?!"
"Perhaps."
"Then why couldn't you have just told me?!" Ever hissed.
"Where's the fun in that? Besides, I know you're smart enough to figure it out, but I'm bored now."
Ever sighed. "Fine, give me a hint then."
"You're looking for something round with a green stone embedded in it."
"So... a ring?" Ever questioned.
"Yes."
Ever shook her head.
"You're impossible."
"Fenris." Ever spoke into the crystal. "I believe you're looking for a ring. Something with a green gem."
Ever watched Fenris turn towards the High King, and around one of his fingers was a black band with a green gem.
That was easier than she thought.
