How much time did she have?

Enough. Hopefully.

"Haven?!" Ever called out for her.

Maybe Wyll was right; maybe she had left already.

Ever ducked inside what she would guess was the library.

The air shifted around her and time seemed to stop.

"Haven?" Haven was sitting on the floor crying over what looked to be a book. "Is everything alright?"

"I thought I would find something." Haven quivered.

Ever bent down next to her and rested a hand on her back.

"Find what?"

"You wouldn't understand."

"You say that..." Ever peered at the book. It was open to a picture of the Elleden Royal Family. "They tried to erase everything about us, didn't they?"

"What?" Haven looked up at Ever.

"You and I both know there's nothing here to stop Hex."

Haven remained silent for a moment.

"Why did you want to go to Ione so bad?" Ever questioned.

"I wanted to go home... just one time." Haven cried.

"You did everything; made me find 'artifacts' just to come here?"

"...Yes." Haven faltered.

Ever let out a long sigh and got up from the ground. She walked towards a slightly burnt bookcase and traced her finger along the empty shelves.

"Do you realize what you've done?" She asked.

"...Yes?" Haven hesitated.

"Was it worth it? You put everyone's lives in danger just to come to a stupid island."

"It's not just any island, Ev. It's our home." Haven argued.

"No... It's yours." Ever turned to face Haven. "This was never my home."

"Ev-"

"You think that I would want to be a part of a family that lied to me? That made me put not only my life but everyone's life on the line for some stupid reason such as going back to an abandoned island?!" Ever seethed.

"Ever... look what this did for you though. You got the life you wanted." Haven argued.

"And what life is that?!"

"I wouldn't have just let you live out in the swamp your whole life scamming people!"

"I don't believe that."

Ever felt her anger bubble up inside her and begin to seep out like magma from a volcano. She shook her head. "I don't understand why I even bothered to help you in the first place." She snapped.

Ever walked out of the library and back out into the hallway.

"Ever!" Wyll ran to her and let out a sigh of relief. "Where's Haven?!"

"I don't know. I couldn't find her." Ever lied. "Let's just get out of here before we become stuck."

"Ever." Wyll grabbed her arm.

"What!?" Ever snapped.

"Is everything okay?"

"There's no use helping her. She's made up her mind." A voice whispered in the back of her head.
