A Minute of Honesty

In one or two of the previous chapters, I've said something about the game I play at home, haven't I??

A Minute of Honesty.

Actually it's not really a game. It's more like a family ritual.
A Minute of Honesty is a method my mom found to keep herself up-to-date-about her children.

From this game, Mom can find out about our activities, our study, our problems and the most important thing, our friends.

Mom never forbid us from making friends with anyone.
But the bad news about what happens with teenagers lately makes her worried.

Actually, A Minute of Honesty was inspired by a news as well.
One day, mom heard a news about a nineteen years old girl who committed suicide.
The girl was reported to finish her life because she's depressed and no one from her family knew it.
From the outside, her parents and friends said she acted as happy as always.
Who knows behind the smile she showed to everyone, there was a broken soul.

For the girl. I hope you're in peace. ❤❤❤

The news made Mom terrified.
She's afraid AB and me are desperate inside.
She thought we both lackaffection from her since she was too busy working and less attention.

*sighs*
Oh, my dear mom.
Both AB and me are happy.

So... That's it.

Mom made ‘A Minute of Honesty’.

If we can, we'll play it every Friday night.
But if we can't, once or twice a month is enough.

Why Friday??  Because on the weekend, sometimes, we have our own agenda.

The game is simple.
The most important rule is no lies.
Mom taught us about how important it is to never lie to her.
That's why no matter how bad AB and I look like, we will never say a single untrue word to mom.

After dinner, three of us will stay at the dining room. Mom will open the game with telling us about her job.
She sometimes tells funny stories about her coworkers.
When she's done, both AB and I have one minute to share Mom about our week.

I don't know it's true or not but mom has theory the short time will give us no room to lie.
We won't have time to think about anything else but the truth.
Sometimes she won't let us talk freely. She will give us questions.

For the first time, I thought it's a ridiculous idea.
But the reality tells a different story.
For our family, this simple method is working perfectly.
Mom knows about us and we can share our struggles and get advice in return.

Just one minute but somehow we all are connected.

We still do it till today and I enjoy it really much.

P.S: I don't take any request to play it with you. LoL
