Chapter 2 : "Miss me? Sure."
“Class dismissed.” Mr. Hedry told us after he’d gave us our homeworks. Math. I shook my head. I was never good in math, but I tried my best.
I shoved my stuff in my bag and waited for everyone to leave first before I stood up to leave. Didn’t want to cramp up their way.
“Hey! Annie!” Who? That wasn’t Chris but that sure as hell was one of his friends.
“Danny?” How did he know my last period? He hadn’t even said anything to me since this morning when I met him. Honestly, among all of his ‘brothers’, Danny was the creepiest. Actually, he was the only creepy one. The rest were cool. Almost too cool.
“Hey, um – Ana. I just wanted to tell you that you’re cool. The coolest freshman I’ve ever met actually – ,” I laughed, he thought I was cool? He was even weirder that I’d thought.
“ – And um… I was wondering if you have anything to do on Saturday?”
Uh, what the fuck?
Instead, I smiled politely and nodded my head.
“Yes, Danny. I’m sorry, Chris’ already told me he wants to take me out.” I explained to him. I hope he got the hint. I was getting goosebumbs just talking to him. His gaze made me squirm, uncomfortably.
But unfortunately he didn’t get it. He just shrugged and said,
“Oh, maybe next time. I’d like to take you out somewhere.”
“As friends, sure. I’ll hold that to you. I’d best be going now, see you around, Danny.”
So help me, Lord, take a hint, will ya?, I thought.
He gave me a three-fingered wave and I walked away without another word.
I’d decided to make a quick stop at my locker before I started for home. I opened my locker door, not expecting at all for a paper to fall out. The girls around me whispered and glared as I bent down to retrieve it.
Carpark, afterschool? (This is not a request, btw)
Take a wyld guess, Annie.
The one and only.
I looked at the note and smiled. He thought it wasn’t obvious. Then I folded it and stuffed it in my pocket. Duh, he was the only one that called me Annie. Chris. Oh, and 'wyld' guess? Ha ha. Get it? Christopher 'Wyld'er?
