Chapter 12.

Memories.

You are in your room, or driving your car and this song comes up on the radio in the car or the tv at home and you remember those moments when you were listening to that song with that person and how you guys sang along to the song and start humming that song. That's how memories work. U remember them by small things, which might have not been significant at that moment, but becomes your trigger. Every memory is remembered by a trigger moment.

Since I started my part time job as a tutor I started saving up for a watch. Not for me! Obviously for Akshay. He had wanted it for so long. "Look at this watch isn't it a beauty?" he showed me on his phone, a G-shock watch that he wanted. And for reasons unknown I decided to buy it for him for his birthday.

It was august and by now I had saved up enough for his present. So I decided to buy it for him in august itself rather than wait till his birthday which was in October.

"Hey. Where are you?" I called him driving towards his home hoping he is available.

"At home potti." YES!

"Ok. Get ready am picking you up in 10 minutes." I say feeling excited.

"Why? Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise. See you soon." I say and hung up.

I reach his home and he gets into my car really confused as to where we are going but refrains from asking me anything.

When we are about to reach the Casio watch showroom, he still doesn't understand so to put him out of his misery I say, "You know how you wanted to buy this g-shock watch so much?"

"What? Yes. So?" he looks at me wide eyed.

"Well, here you go. We are buying it." I say parking in front of the Casio showroom.

"WHAT? Are you serious?" he asked his hands in the air.

"Of course I am. I wanted to buy it for your birthday but couldn't wait till then."

"Wow! WOW! No I can't. Shalini!" He says.

"Shut up. Let's go."

"I can't believe this!" He says getting down my car.

"Well, do you have anything in mind ? which one do you want?"

"Ofcourse not! I didn't know I was gonna buy it so soon idiot!!" he says loudly.

I laugh and shake my head.

In the shop we see many and he is like a kid in a candy store allowed to buy lots of candies. He finally settles on two and asks me to choose between them. I just shrug and say " Your decision, both look good! Choose whichever you wanna wear." He takes pictures of the two and sends to his friends and finally decides on a one which has military pattern on it and all the features he wanted.

I pay for it and we start towards home. All the way home he is thanking me and is so happy.

All I say to him when I drop him off home is " Well, I wanted to gift you this watch cause watch symbolizes time and I wanted you to promise me that no matter what, we will always have time for each other. That we are always gonna be in each others life."

" I promise Shalini. Always." He says and kisses me on the forehead.

The g-shock watch became my trigger.

I remember the first time we hung out. I was in second year of college and never bunked a class.

"Let's go to a movie?" Akki said all of a sudden on a morning just five minutes before class started.

"Are you serious?" I say with wide eyes.

"Ofcourse. Comeon." And before I knew it I am out of my class and in his car off to IMAX.

It was my first time bunking college and it was one helluva exciting and fun day. The movie was great. After the movie we went to this amusement park with rides like Columbus, the giant wheel, haunted house. It was time well spent. The face he made when a ghost in the haunted house went to tickle his was hilarious. I lost my voice screaming while riding the Columbus. We had the best view of the sunset in the giant wheel. We sat in the park in the green grass and ate my lunch box talking about random stuff and being goofy.

The amusement park became my trigger.

This other time we went to a movie after a long time. That year I was just so busy with college and stuff that I just didn't have time to myself.

"You know what. You need a break. We are going out tomorrow. And I am not taking no for an answer." He had demanded over text. And like he said I didn't have a choice to say no.

We went to the movie, it was a regional language movie named Rudhramadevi. It was a female oriented movie and we loved it. After that we had lunch and he decided to drive around the neighborhood of Banjara hills as it is quite a posh place. We saw so many beautiful houses, I squealed when ever I saw an expensive car showroom or a beautiful house.

Also that day I took Askhay's phone and was pretending to see something when I changed his passcode.

He didn't notice it until he went home.

He had to text me on facebook from his laptop to know the password. I thought it was hilarious.

The expensive showrooms became my trigger.

The next time we went to a movie was when he wanted to apologize to me for ignoring me for a few days when my parents were not in town. I had never gone to night show movie, so he decided to take me out for that. Again it was a regional movie named 'A Aa..' It was a romcom and we loved it ofcourse.

Because I loved to drive around in the car with good music, he took me to a drive to the airport and we had mcdonald's at the airport for no reason.

Airports became my trigger.
