Chapter 13.
Classes.
"I really want to study in Australia Shalini." Akshay says to me one day, which led us to join in IELTS classes together.
It was like we were back in high school, sitting in the same class. Only we weren't children anymore. The class was for 2 hours and after that we would hangout for a while then go home.
One day out of the blue Diya (Akki's ex-girlfriend) texted me.
Diya: Hey, This is Diya! I hope you remember me.
Shalini: Hi. Ofcourse I do yar. How are you?
D: Everything is okay. How are you?
S: Am good.
D: Sup? Hows life?
S: Its good. I am attending IELTS classes with Akshay.
D: Oh! That's cool. How is he?
S: He is okay. He really wants to go to Australia. I hope he does.
D: Yeah I hope he does go. You are helping him study?
S: Sort of, I guess.
D: Nice.
S: What did you wanna know about Diya really? If he has moved on or not?
D: Am sorry! I know you see it as my fault. But I couldn't help my situation.
S: What really happened?
D: You don't know?
S: I know his version.
D: He didn't come forward when it was needed because his hands were tied. Both of us couldn't do anything I guess.
S: that must have been so hard.
D: Yes. It was. Akshay will always hold a special place in my heart. But I had to let go for my husband.
S: How is your husband?
D: He is such a kind man. Before marrying me he wasn't ever in love with another girl. I was surprised when I got to know about this.
S: You are his first love.
D: Yeah. I am. I feel happy about that. I don't want him to lose me cause know how it feels to lose your first love. Moving on from Akshay was what I was supposed to do for my husband.
S: Do you still think about him.
D: I do. At times I think of all the memories we shared. His caring nature I miss a lot. I shouldn't compare my husband and Akshay, but at times I can't help it. I realize how different they are. I will admit, I do miss Akshay. I hope that one day we can be friends.
S: You know that will be hard for him.
D: Yes. But one day perhaps when he has someone he loves maybe then he will consider being in my life again as a friend.
S: Do you think he will fall in love again.
D: When the right girl will come around in his life, he will.
S: I hope that happens.
D: It will happen. Thank you for taking care of him.
S: I am his best friend, ofcourse I will.
D: Take care Shalini.
S: You too Diya.
After class the next day, I showed Akshay the whole conversation. I was sitting in the driver's seat of my car with the door open and he was leaning on his bike, parked right beside my car. My throat felt choked when I saw him read all the conversation and tears drip down his face.
"Thank you Shalini. This kindof felt like the closure I needed." He said with a sad smile on his face. I patted his shoulder and gave a reassuring smile. As soon as he left I started crying hysterically for reasons unknown.
