The trip to Zone Two was an uneventful one filled with discussions of strategy and planning out every detail.

After driving all night and all of the next day, we arrived outside the zone before midnight and began phase one of our plan; getting inside.

We managed to sneak inside relatively easy and without detection. That's something to say about the zones defence systems.

All those years I thought that we were safe behind our walls and fences but it was all a fallacy. Vampires could have entered anytime they wanted. The question that lingers in my mind now is why didn't they?

We are currently holed up in an empty house on the outskirts of the sector. The two houses either side are both occupied but for some reason, this one isn't.

I begin searching through the duffle I bought along with a huff as I rifle through things that I now have no use for. A long rope and a grappling hook were absolutely useless since, in the end, all I needed was to stretch out my vampire muscles.

I didn't think it possible but I managed to clear the leap from the ground to the top of the wall in one shot. I remember Alex doing the same but I figured that I would be too weak to do such a thing having never given it a shot. But I chose to try and succeeded first attempt. Pride was oozing from Alex at that point as he watched me do so.

I finally find what I'm looking for inside the duffle with a sigh of relief. I grab out the clear plastic bags and throw one to Alex while tearing a corner off of my own. The blood streams out and into my mouth as I suck the bag dry.

I don't know when will be the next chance we get to refuel so I decide to empty another bag as well.

I throw the empty blood bags on the floor and make my way to the window. I scan the outside surroundings but find nothing amiss. There is no one on the street at this time of night which helps us with the next phase of our plan.

Alex comes up behind me and looks outside over my shoulder, placing a hand on my lower back. I feel the familiar tingle on my skin from his touch and decide to tug my shirt further down to cover my exposed flesh.

I chose to wear a black long sleeve shirt with a low neckline and simple straight cut black pants. I figured it would help me to blend into the darkness. Alex had the same idea as he is also wearing black pants with a black t-shirt.

I have found that since becoming a vampire, the elements no longer bother me. The chill of the night air no longer stings my skin. Instead, I find that I can wear a short sleeve shirt in the dead of winter and not have a care in the world. I guess it's due to not being fully alive.

I look back into the room and find Imani, along with our other volunteer Viktor, setting up a laptop computer. Viktor is frantically hitting at keys while Imani is playing with small tracking devices meant for Alex and I.

Without a word, Imani moves toward Alex and places the tiny device that's smaller than a grain of rice on his hand. She then turns to me and hands me my own.

"I suggest putting them somewhere you won't lose them," Imani instructs.

I cock my eyebrow at her and before even thinking things through I throw it into my mouth and gulp it down.

Imani looks briefly shocked before she smiles and lets out a small giggle.

"Well, I guess you won't lose it in there."

Alex let's out a snort of approval and follows suit.

Imani makes her way back to Viktor and watches him closely as he presses even more keys on the computer.
