"Hello Evette," the calm and collected voice says causing my eyes to widen.

I turn my head towards the sound and see the last person I expected to be here lounging on a wooden porch swing. Her honey eyes are locked on to me and it makes my skin crawl.

"Hello Sabina."

The fur on Odin's back begins to raise as he emits a low growl from deep in his belly. Odin is not happy that Sabina is here one bit.

She disregards the sounds coming from the white wolf and stands tall, dusting off snow from her black fur coat and removing the hood from her head. As she does this, her golden locks fall effortlessly around her shoulders and down her back and front. As always, she looks perfect.

"What are you doing here?" I ask without taking my eyes off of her. How did she even find us?

She straightens herself and clasps her hands together in front of her before smirking mischievously at me.

"I've come to help you, Evette. To take you far away from this place and teach you all I can about your special gift."

My eyes widen slightly as she mentions my power and I am hopeless to stop them. She has seen the shock register in my eyes and smiles wider.

"I was told that you unlocked your hidden potential. Well done. May I ask what was the catalyst?"

I want to spit at her and tell her to go to hell but I don't. Instead I answer coldly.

"My brothers death."

A small smile erupts on her face before she waves off my words and emits her own.

"Oh well. In the end, all humans die. It's best to sever ties with humans now while you're still young. It makes it easier to use your new found power which might I just say is truly astounding. Bringing someone back from the dead. Remarkable."

Her words hit my ears and cause my blood to heat up within me. How on earth does she believe that me losing my brother and cutting all ties to any humans that I know is a good thing?

I am just about to open my mouth but she takes a step towards me and continues to speak.

"I want you to come with me, Evette. Together we can travel and discover everything hidden within you. I already know that you are no longer with Alex so you have nothing to hold you back anymore. We can be great together. I can teach you to become truly unstoppable."

The next thing I hear sinks my heart. Footsteps behind me and a soft wail alert me to my niece and the Viking giant's presence. Oh no.

Sabina looks from me to behind me and back again. I'm not sure if she was looking at Leif or Annerly but either way, I am on edge by the shock in her eyes.

"Who is this little one then?" She asks giving me the answer as to who caught her attention more.

I literally hear Leif tense his muscles and grasp Annerly tighter. I stand up straighter at this question to assert my dominance.

"Thats none of your concern."

Sabina begins shaking her head and making a tsk tsk sound.

"Oh Evette. You really don't understand do you. In order to reach your full potential you must cut all ties with your human life. That means the child must go."

I risk a glance behind me and catch sight of Annerlys beautiful face as she stares towards me. This small little angel that is my entire world is not something I would throw away for sheer convenience. The fact that I left my life with Alex to protect her is proof of that.
