I make my way down the corridor and toward the entrance we came in from.
I need to get out of here and find my niece. That child is the only thing that matters right now.
A new kind of focus washes over my senses and I feel each one awaken to new heights.
I hear a gun cock from at least 50 metres away over the loud sirens and sprint towards it.
I arrive in less than a second to find two soldiers loading their guns. They were looking for the cause of the sirens and they found it. Me.
The shock of seeing me come from nowhere doesn't even fully register on their faces before I have snapped both of their necks.
I drop their bodies to the ground and step over them without any regard to who they were. It doesn't matter anyway. They were in my way so they were eliminated.
I turn left and continue straight until I reach the entrance we broke into. Instinctively I look over my shoulder and find Alex coming up to meet me. He must have been lagging back.
"Keep up." Is all I say to him before opening the back door and exiting into the night.
I am greeted with four more guards as they stand stationed in front of the door conversing with each other.
I make fast work of them as I break the first one's neck and then the seconds. I turn to the third and punch through his stomach so my hand can feel the cool night air as it sticks out of his back.
I retrieve my hand, now covered in a fresh coat of blood and turn to face the fourth and final guard.
He opens his mouth to shout but I force both of my hands inside and proceed to part his jaw until the lower section dislocates and the skin rips open. His body goes limp in my hands and I toss him to the ground without a word.
"Evie..." Alex whispers but does not continue.
I turn my entire body toward him and feel his worried gaze set in on me. He doesn't know how to react to this situation. His mind is racing trying to pinpoint one single thought or emotion but he can't.
As for me, I have no emotions right now. Everything is blank and numb. I have one sole mission and anyone that gets in my way will be eliminated. It's that simple.
While I wait for a sentence to form on his tongue I lift my right hand to my mouth and begin to lick the still warm blood from my fingertips. I do this in a sultry way almost to excite Alex but his face is etched in discordance. Clearly torn with what he is seeing.
I suck one finger bare and then a second before extending my hand toward him and smiling mischievously. I don't even know why I do it but I do it nonetheless.
"Want some?"
He doesn't respond and so I pull my hand back and lick another finger clean.
"Suit yourself."
The night air brings around different sounds and smells to me and I decipher each one quickly.
There are at least three other patrol groups roaming the nearby streets but I should be able to avoid them easily. They are not where I am headed anyway.
I begin searching the night for the correct street name and head towards my destination.
I must find Annerly and get her out of this place and I will slaughter anyone who stands in my way.
I have lost so much that I refuse to lose her as well.
She must be kept safe.
A/N - Short chapter I know but more is coming very very soon!
