Simón's POV
I wrap my arms tightly around Ámbar, enjoying the feeling, one more time before letting her go. I get up and help her do the same, guiding her downstairs.
She follows me without saying a word. She stops at the bottom of the stairs and passes her hands on her face, cleaning any traces of tears. Then moving to her hair, which is basically a waterfall of blonde curls.
"How do I look?" She asks, putting her neutral mask back on. I exam her closely for the first time today. I mean, I kept looking at her the whole movie but I couldn't really have the view I have now.
Standing there in front of me, with no make up, as natural as she can be, with her pink "Miss Perfection" hoodie, she looked younger, more chilled, without having to keep the perfect posture. I couldn't help but chuckle.
She crosses her arms and raises her eyebrows. "Am I that awful?"
I shake my head. "Ámbar, you can never be awful. That word wasn't made for you." I admit without thinking, making her bite her lips, avoiding a smile. I scratch the back of my head.
"Well, what I mean is that... " I cough, trying to control the situation. "You look very well but you don't have to worry about that."
She takes the final step, and is now facing me. Analyzing her face, I notice how her blue eyes pop against her paler skin. Her cheeks have a natural pink, something no blush can mimic. Her nose is basically of the same color. But what catches my attention even more, are the little freckles around that area. I mean, I knew she has freckles, she tries hard to conceive them but they are still there, however, only now am I really appreciating just how much beauty they add to her, specially now that I can see all the little brows dots.
Okay, loving, liking or hating her, there is no denying she is beautiful. So there is no problem here.
"What? Is there something on my face. What are you looking at?"
"Your freckles. I never noticed you had so many..."
She covers her nose and cheeks with her hands. "I know. They are horrible... Ughhh... I should have put some make up..." She mumbles, sitting.
I mimic her.
"Horrible? Not a chance. I love them... uhhh... They make you cute... ughh...  I mean they are cute..."
"You really think that? My godmother always said that freckles were a mistake of nature. That flowers with brown dots weren't beautiful."
"Well, we know you godmother isn't exactly the example you should follow. But, Ámbar, you are such a confident girl and you should be. Be proud of everything you have, from your blue eyes to your freckles! Plus, it's true not everyone has it, but it only makes you more unique!"
Ámbar finally allows a smile to light up her face, making me grin as well.
"Well, thank you... I can see you are right there. It's just hard when you were told something your whole life or believed something and then you don't really know how to separate what you believe because you were told to from what you believe because you want to." She shrugs.
"Anyways! You look perfect! Now let's go!" I get up and he head to the living room.
There I see Luna playing with her phone, she looks at us, relieve crossing her face and I send her a 'talk later look' which thankfully she got.
We resumed our previous positions and after hearing Luna rambling about what Nina had to say about how things were in Buenos Aires, how everyone and the Roller was (which made Ámbar shift uncomfortably in her sit), she finally suggests we watch something on tv.
We found out Ámbar was never a girl to watch tv shows. She and Ms. Sharon weren't ones to spend the night as family. They basically didn't use the tv, only to watch news but mainly on their own rooms. Ámbar did enjoy watching movies because the length gave her just enough time relax before going back to her thousand duties.
Having heard this, Luna freaked out and said we had to change this.
So here we are now, with Luna making us watch The Next Step, which is a show about an Academy of dancers. Luna absolutely loves it. I actually enjoy it because, yes music is my passion, but dancing on skates has grown on me and it's good to get ideas for new tricks.
Right now, they are performing, and my eyes turn to Ámbar who had wrapped a fluffy blanket around her and seems to be about to fly to the world of dreams.
Carolina comes from the kitchen, being followed by Monica, with plates on their hands. Just a few seconds later Miguel and Mr. Alfredo join us.
Apparently, Ámbar's favorite cake is lemon, so Mr. Alfredo asked Monica to prepare one for us, along with a multiple choice of drinks, knowing just how indecisive Ámbar can get there. Her eyes sparkle when she sees the attention given to her. How everyone is worried about how she is feeling, if her temperature went down, if she needs anything, or simply if she is enjoying the food.
It's like, Ámbar is used to attention, but not this one, not this genuine concern and care.
She eats or rather, devours her first slice and then her second, which gets her general giggles. We eat together chatting, while Ámbar doesn't really say much. She just seems really focused on the dynamics, on the interactions between us. Almost as if she wanted to figure something out.
Once everyone is finished, full and satisfied, and after checking her fever again, Ámbar asks permission to go lay down.
While she is climbing the stairs, she turns around and looks at me, I smile and she does as well. And I cannot help but admit I haven't forgotten her yet...
