Silence…
Not just any silence though…awkward silence.
The exact kind that Blayke hated.
He tapped his pencil on his notebook while Quin had his guitar on his lap, while Zoe was spinning around in the chair, absentmindedly. Quin's mind wasn't in the music either.
That also was pissing Blayke off.
"If someone doesn't tell me what the hell is going on…" Blayke growled, clenching his pencil. His sister and friend made no movement to answer.
"Guys, we have a deadline at midnight. If we don't e-mail this demo to that one artist I can never pronounce their name, we lose the deal." He continued on, hoping to get through to one of them.
"So let's talk about your crap so we can get that over with."
Quin looked away, while Zoe kept spinning. "Nothing's going on." She said dully.
"And that's a bunch of bullshit." Blayke reached over and grabbed the back of her chair, making Zoe come to a complete halt, as she squeaked at the sudden stop.
"You're going to make yourself sick, Zoe."
Zoe suddenly went pale and put a hand to her mouth. "Too late!" She suddenly ran up the stairs towards the bathroom.
Blayke rolled his eyes and then turned to Quin, who strummed a little on his guitar. "That sounds depressing."
"I don't want to talk about this, Blayke." Quin muttered. "I can't right now."
"Did you two break up?" Blayke asked, in a bit of shock.
Quin didn't answer.
But that was enough for him.
"I can't believe this." Blayke sat back in his seat, putting his notebook down. "Zoe has to stop doing this. She-"
"Don't blame Zoe." Quin almost snapped, glaring to his best friend. "I screwed up."
Blayke clenched his fists. "How did you do that?"
"Wendy Koopa was sitting on my lap last night and flirting with me…I didn't push her off." Quin sighed.
"I didn't think much of it while I let her do whatever she wanted, before I told her to get lost…Zoe caught us. She wasn't happy…we didn't break up, but we're taking a break." Quin ran his hands through his hair.
"Is there a difference between the two? I mean…if one of the guys at school tomorrow come up to her and hit on her, would she flirt back? I can't handle that. Oh my god, my dad was right."
"Okay, I think I've swam into deeper waters here…" Blayke sighed.
"So you guys are still together, but taking a break because you didn't stop Wendy from feeling you up…now that I'm caught up, I'll skip the beating the shit out of you for hurting my baby sister, while we jump to fixing this."
"Don't get involved, Blayke." Quin told him.
"It'll just make things worse. I'm giving Zoe space right now…and I'm hoping we get this song sold because I need a lot of money to buy her something very expensive."
"That'll help." Blayke nodded in agreement. "Okay, let's start from the top…"
…
Zoe sighed as she shut the door to Madison's car and put her seatbelt on with Madison peeling out of her spot on the curb.
"Can you slow down?" Zoe asked, a bit panicked at Madison's speed in a gated community.
"Man, you being single is really making you lame." Madison sighed as she speeds down the busy streets.
