Ch 24: Promesa rota (Broken Promise)

(August 2016)

 "Madison, I'm so nervous." 14 year old Zoe Cipher said as she waited in the hot sun around the lunch tables with her best friend. "What if he doesn't like me?"

Madison Star rolled her eyes and looked around again for the boy who was supposed to meet them a few minutes prior. "Zoe, chill. I showed him a picture of you."

Zoe gasped dramatically and had wide eyes. "You did? Madison! Well, oh my goodness...what'd he say?"

Before Madison could answer, she was interrupted.

"I said that the beauty in the picture was someone I wanted to meet and take out on a date." The voice from behind said. Zoe jumped up and squeaked as she was faced with a tall boy with a handsome face. He was angelic to her...little did she know, he was saying the exact same. "Hi...I'm Quin Lockhart."

(July 2017) 

Zoe had a tear roll down her cheek as she stared out into the ocean. She had just confessed her love to Quin, after almost year of being together, and he was speechless. She realized he didn't feel the same about her. He didn't love her, he just liked her company. More tears came down as she heard her name being called. By Quin...they were in Cancun, on a vacation with her whole family. Zoe told him as they were walking down the beach, but he didn't answer, so she ran from him to another part of the beach.

Here it came...the heart break.

When he slide down next to her and held her sobbing form in his arms, he tried to calm her down. "Zoe, you didn't give me a chance to say anything!"

"Yes, I did!" Zoe argued back, trying to stop the tears, but only more came out. "But after a minute of you standing there like an idiot, I ran! You don't love me!"

"I do! I do love you!" Quin said desperately. "I was just upset that I didn't say it first...I was worried you didn't feel the same." He said, as they both were calming down. "I do love you...I love you. I just was scared. I'm so sorry, Zoe. Please forgive me."

Zoe was breathing heavily as she realized what he said. "You...you...you love me?"

"Of course." Zoe smiled. "You're my princess. I love you with everything I have in me."

(December 2018) 

Quin wrapped a large king size blanket around himself and his girlfriend of over 2 years as they sipped on hot coco outside the cabin they rented for a week with their friends. It was around 10pm and the others were inside, but the two lovebirds wanted some time alone.

"Quin...that story that Madison told around the campfire earlier scared me." Zoe's lip trembled as she buried her face in Quin's chest. "I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight."

He rubbed her back and kissed the top of her head. "Oh, Kitten. Silly girl. You have nothing to fear."

"How do you know?" She asked innocently.

"Because I'm your protector." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "When something bothers you, I'll scare it off. I'll keep you safe."

"Pinky promise?" Zoe's tiny pinky reached out for his pinky and wrapped them together when they agreed. "Now it's a forever promise."

"Forever promise?"
