Ch 30: Por qué eres mi claridad? (Why Are You My Clarity?)

Dream Sequence

"Amber…Amber…awaken…"

Zoe sat up in bed slowly and looked directly at the light shining down upon her as she put her hand on top of Quin's. "Yes?"

"Amber…you've forgotten your mission…"

Suddenly everything came back to Zoe.

After she was murdered, she was sent to heaven, but it wasn't her time just yet… "I did forget…but I remember now. I need to fulfill my mission. I need to save the others."

"Yes. You must hurry. Your time is running out. Danny Matthews will be at the wedding tomorrow. He's coming to kill you and the others…"

"Okay." Zoe nodded, looking over her shoulder to Quin, who was sound asleep. "Do I really have to leave him again? He won't survive losing me again…"

"Amber, I have not decided your fate yet. Finish your mission and you may be granted the right to stay on Earth with Quin again."

"Yes, sir."

Dream Sequence End

Zoe opened her eyes once again, blinking vigorously. She sat up and saw the sunlight beaming through the curtains and Quin was asleep still, same position as the dream she had.

"I must stop Danny." She whispered as she kissed his forehead. She stood up and went to the house phone. She called Maxwell's private phone.

"Maxwell, sir, this is Zoe Lockhart. Yes, everything is fine. Sir, I remember something. Danny said he would be at the wedding for my friend Madison, on this day, to kill her.

I remember he told me that day…the day he killed me…"

Flashback

Zoe awoke when someone was shifting her body into the backseat of her car.

"Hey!" She screamed, but suddenly there was something in her mouth, with her unable to scream any longer. She tried to reach for the man's small makeshift mask to pull it down, but he pinned her wrists above her head, and continued on to sexually assault her.

Afterwards, she saw the man pull out a knife…all Zoe could think was…Quin…

And the knife came down onto her chest, into her heart…

Zoe released one of her hands and pushed the knife out of his hand. "No!"

Danny growled. "Shut up, Zoe! You've been alive too long to keep teasing me! You need to die!"

"What? Teasing you?" Zoe questioned.

Danny pinned her back down as one hand grabbed Zoe's chin, gripping it with a bruising grip.

"You…Rain…and Madison…you've all used me, teased me, and made me want you so much. You've all rejected me. Well, no more. You three need to die. I'll kill you first. Then I'll kill Rain while dating her. Last, but not least, kill Madison on her very own wedding day. It's brilliant. I'll just kill myself afterwards.

If Blayke and Quin think they can keep stealing all the girls, they're wrong. They won't have any of you." Danny released Zoe's chin and grabbed the knife again. He gently slid it down her cheek. "Goodbye, kitty-cat."

Flashback End

"…then he stabbed me." She subconsciously put her hand on her heart, where the scar was. "I have an awful feeling something may happen at the wedding."
