Ona was outside the verandah of her house when words reached her that her ex_husband was dead her mother was really happy and danced in glee,Alas the shock of the news made Ona go into premature labour,she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy,whom she named Gabriel.
Her mother was very happy this was a day of double blessing, her husband's hut would hear the cry of a baby boy her husband has finally come home,Ona was silently glad that she had fulfilled the task her father asked of her but alas that was not the case,two years after the birth of her baby boy,she decided she could leave her father's house finally and get properly married to a young man John Egbochuchukwu who had recently started courting her,he was a nice man,a Farmer ever girls dream husband at first she rejected him,when she took in again,John insisted and the got married it wasn't even up to a year later John died,when she got back home Gabriel was also dead,the elders used John as an example to any other young man that was fool hardy enough to want to court ona, it began widely speculated that the father really did wants his daughter to remain on her own,losing both husband and child,she went home to her mother's hut.
After some months her business began to flourish,she got lovers but vowed to stay off marriage, she had a total of three children, who kept her company, eventually her grandmother died a ripe old age of ninety years,everyone was sad but she was buried in such a way fit for a queen.
Ona eventually died too,it was believed the curse would end with her but alas she underestimated the vow she took,"She promised her father to keep his hut alive" meaning one of her first daughter in each generation has to stay back and bear children for the father,forever.
Her children naturally abandoned the home and moved on,the succeeded in everything they did but the problem always came when the got married,it was like a dark energy surrounded, them things began to go down hill from generation to generation either the died or got a divorce or no children one thing or the other,of course the all believed the whole cultural thing to be superstitious but alas how true it was they were a breathing walking example.Would the soul of the dead great grandfather finally let his grandchildren live a normal life in peace,alas we would never know.This is finally the end of this book hope you enjoyed it and thanks for everyone who stuck around.
